2015 Multi-Strain Outdoor Soil Grow & Prep

re: 2015 Multi-Strain Outdoor Soil Grow & Prep

Good afternoon everyone!!! It's been a few months since the close of my last journal and after a bit of thought I decided to do this one a bit differently. This journal will catalogue all of my grows through the year of 2015 and this bit of prep I've done so far to get ready for the coming years adventures.

I'll be supplying grow info and conditions along with each group of plants, but first, a little background info. I've never purchased seeds. Though some of my seeds were given to me by people who had ordered large amounts of seeds and simply had leftovers but the majority of my seeds have come from happening to find a seed in really good sacks of bud and saved for later growing. Unfortunately in my younger age I never thought to label the seeds so whenever one pops I just label it by its characteristics when it gets old enough. However, so far I've found 3 seeds in the Purple Kush x Blue Dream I grew earlier this year and am quite excited to see how they turn out!

Now that we've had that little blast from the past, let's get into it! I got antsy and popped a few seeds so here the info.

Strains:
1 Unknown Indica Dominant, 1 Unknown & 1 Purple Kush x Blue Dream which I have dubbed "Purple Dream"
Flower or Veg: All 3 are in veg
Indoor or outdoor: Outdoor in a greenhouse
Hydro or soil: All are in 3 gallon smart pots filled with Roots Organics Emerald Mountain soil with added MiraclGro Perlite. All seeds were also started in these pots and soil
Temp/Humidity of Greenhouse: Day 75-110 depending, night between 40-70. Humidity ranges from 30-70% depending on weather conditions
Fertilizers used: During veg they only get rain water with some super thrive when any Maintanance is done.
No pests to date

Let's get in there!

First, this is the UK Indica dom. plant. Popped the seed mid November, not exactly sure of the date. I topped it last Monday and removed the upper 2 sets of large fan leaves to let more light penetrate. Also some slight lst was done. Just cut the strings today. Will tie it down more in a few days.

Right now it has about 6-8 main stems developing nicely with healthy new growth

Next we have the other Unknown seed. It was soaked in some water and cloning gel for about 10 minutes along with one of the 2014 Purple Dream seeds and placed in their 3 gallon smart pots on November 20th. "UK2" broke dirt on the 24th. Still waiting for it to show its dominant traits.

Last but CERTAINLY not least, my very own "Purple Dream" plant. As stated, the seed came from my plants earlier this year. A Blue Dream x Purple Kush hybrid which smoked and tasted phenomenal if I might add. The seed was soaked and potted November 20th and sprouted the 27th. Even though it sprouted 3 days later, it's growing faster than UK2.

Also, wondering why the leaves are curling down considering it's been under the same conditions as the other 2 and only given rain water and one small dose of super thrive with the initially watering( along with UK2). I flushed it today with rain water so hopefully that corrects whatever was going on.

Depending on how big they get over the next few months in veg, my plan is to transplant one of them into the ground and just let it go until it's time to flower or until it gets too big and I have to force the situation. Of course I will also be taking clones and force flowering them so I know the sexes I'm working with before I waste all that time. SO...that's where we are now. Many more plants and experiments to come over the next 12.5 months. Hope you enjoy and strap in for the journey!:Namaste:

Hey there everyone! Glad to have you be a part of my humble grow. Hope all of you are having a wonderful day. Going to fight my case of the Mondays by spending some time in the garden and giving you all the weekly update but before that, a little mini-update. As stated earlier, I topped UK Indica Dom. (On December 3rd apparently lol) and figured I'd try to see if I could get it to root. I've always heard clones from tops are much more vigorous and produce better than other clones. After 13 days now, it looks like it might be trying to take root! The first week it looked really rough but now it's standing straight and the upper most leaves are even standing up stiff! No visible roots yet but things are looking promising.
image16568.jpg

This is how the top/clone was taken
-First I dipped a clean, sterile blade in some rooting gel
-Used the blade and made a 45 degree angled cut
-IMMEDIATELY put the cutting into a water x cloning solution mix for about 10 minutes
-Finally, placed the cutting in a moist rooting cube and kept it moist over the last 13 days

No humidity dome and out of direct light. I just hope the little bugger actually roots! It has been almost two weeks but it's clearly not dead so I'm not giving up on it yet. What do you all think?

Let me know, and I'll be back with the weekly update in a few hours. Want to get some good pics after they've soaked up some good sun and rain water from this morning.

Good afternoon everyone, hope your days are going well. It's a beautiful day in my neck of the woods and it's even nicer in the greenhouse! It's funny, you never(....well I don't anyway) realize how much your babies are growing until you go back and look at old pictures and compare. So, picture time!

-First we have the Birthday Girl( I hope *crosses fingers*) the UK Indica Dom. In the last week the side shoots have really been producing. They've also stretched a bit but I hope that's just so they can get more light. I'm thinking about doing some defoliation of the older, large fan leaves. They're blocking a lot of light but all of the new growth looks very healthy. The main stem has straightened out a bit, but I don't think it will anymore and the main stem is getting real think, real fast. Great sign :bravo: I really hope it turns out to be a female. One of the best looking plants I've had this early into the grow.

-Next we have the "Purple Dream" plant on veg day 18. Side shoots already producing and it hasn't been FIM'd or topped. I got worried it started to stretch a bit but then I remembered where the seeds came from! Should be nothing to worry about there. The one thing I am worried about however is the leaves keep curling downward, even after I flushed it with rain water. I'm quite excited to see how this plant turns out. Any advice?

-Last, but not least we have UK#2 on veg day 21. Not much has changed here but it does still look pretty healthy so I guess I'll just let it take its time. Who knows...slow and steady might win the race.

Also, just as reference, these were the conditions in the greenhouse while I was just taking these pictures, and over the last 24 hours. Temp and humidity.

Hope you enjoy!

Your Purple Dream appears to be over watered, I would allow the medium to dry until it requires re watering. Place your finger 1"-2" into the soil and feel how moist the medium is.

You know what John, I think you might be right! Going to let it dry out until my next weekly update and see what happens. I watered it with the Indica Dom. the other day by accident smh. Can't wait to see her flourish!

Your high in the green house was 106. Maybe the leaves are curling because of the high temps. I don't grow in a greenhouse (just a storage cabinet) but in my opinion 106 is too warm.

Hey Jade! Wonderful to have you check in! In my experience, when temps get too high, the leaves tend to curl up, and fold up like a taco to let moisture release from under the leaves. Luckily, those temps over 100 only last a few minutes and it's pretty common in there. They usually adjust to the conditions pretty well.

Hello and happy Wednesday everyone. Just a quick mini updat on the UK Indica Dom. plant. Yesterday I decided to do the defoliation I talked about a few days ago. It was extremely crowded in there, there was almost no light penetration beyond that top layer of foliage. Here she is now.

Good afternoon everybody, it's Monday again so it's time for the weekly update! First off, a bit about what's taken place over the last seven days. Friday I decided to take 2 more clones from UK Indica Dom. 1 and I will be flowering those after they show roots and are transplanted and vegged for a week. Also, one of my buddies who will be setting up a profile and documenting his first grow this spring brought me 8 SKYWALKER OG KUSHAN seeds yesterday. If you all haven't realized yet, I'm pretty impatient...so lastnight I soaked 2 in spring water and super thrive. This morning after they sank to the bottom, I transferred them to a wet paper towel in an airtight container. I will put them in soil when the tap root breaks through.
image16774.jpg

Now time for the others.
image16769.jpg

UK Indica Dom. 1 has really been vegging and filling out quite nicely. Not much to talk about but nice to look at
image16770.jpg

Next is the "Purple Dream" fem. I did some lst and its adjusting nicely. I believe I tied her down Thursday. Nice constant growth and she's already putting Luther 7 bladed leaves. Exciting things. Haven't watered it since last Monday and they're all getting a good dose of rain now. Been stormy most of the afternoon and I set them outside the greenhouse to get some of that.
image16771.jpg
image16772.jpg

And finally, the second Unknown. Not much change at all. Going very slow but still alive and a good color, so I'll lether take her time. It has been getting into the 30s and 40s at nights so I put my clay pot heater in there and it helps keep it up in the 50s.

Hey everybody, still here. Sorry I haven't posted an update in a little while but the weather here has just been terrible! We went from a week and a half of non-stop rain and overcast skies, to a week of temperatures not passing about 33 degrees. I had to bring all the plants in the house and convert my office closet to a veg area until they can return to the greenhouse. Growth has stunted a bit but I'm sure they will all be fine. Also, lost the 2nd unknown plant to a freeze. Rest in peace.
