2nd All Time Grow: Jacks Girl, Sweet Zombie, Bannana Kush, Chronic Widow, Pro Mix HP

this is my second grow my first one was with organic living soil. 4 plants.

It wasnt a complete disaster. Because it actually taught me how to grow for real.
I studied growing indoor weed for 3 years thinking I was gonna be the man. Fuck me was I wrong. What an eye opener..all that book smarts didnt equal shit when It came down to it.

So I'm already 2 weeks into flower but I'll show you my journey this far.

GROW ROOM SETUP:

8x8 tent (using 4x12 of it for plants)

STRAINS:
3 x chronic widow (white widow x the chronic)
3 x sweet zombie (zombie virus x black domina)
3x Bannana Kush (ghost og x skunk haze)
3x Jack's girl (girlscout cookies x jack herer)

The sweet zombie were clones given to me by a buddy and everything else was grown from seed

Rapid routers seemed to work. I sprouted 13 and lost 4

Do a little FIM

20191203_112544.jpg

Been giving half strength nutes
Ph going in 6.3 ( fed around 6.2 to 6.3 at the start to make sure the girls were getting their calcium)

This milwauke costs me 200 but it's the best investment I've made. 3 in 1 probe what more could you ask for
20191204_114340.jpg20191204_114353.jpg

Playing around with light locations to make sure plants take advantage of the cross lighting of the ultraviolet Ray's from CMH and quantum board
20191207_114929.jpg

Only about 4 of my 9 seed plants responded well to the fim. Which pissed me off a bit didnt dare FIM again as I was already running behind in my eyes for a quick veg

The clones were doing well growing bushy, actually dropped one of the cmh fixtures on one of the poor clones and split it down the middle. I lost 3 branches but taped the rest of it back together with electrical tape and I'll be damned if she didnt skip a beat.

Ok heres where it gets interesting.

I'm playing around with various techniques I find online. Like the lower light schedule in veg I wanted to save a bit on electricity so I was running 16/8 for a light schedule

Turns out sweet zombie is a 7 week flower plant.
And my bro says if you give her the chance she flip herself in a heartbeat (no it's not an autoflower)
Sure as shit on only 16 hours of light in veg all my sweet zombies flipped
Resized_20191224_195035.jpeg

.......so I'd decided fuck it flip them all to 12/12

Did some HEAVY DEFOLIATING
I've taken about that many leaves every 3 days to keep light going to lower branches, fan leaves were getting massive and the girls never skipped a beat or got stressed

20200101_145051.jpg

Had a bit of WPM due to high humidity and no extraction fan kicking in exhausting it at night.
I have 2x6" fans at 440cfm
So set one to temp for daytime
And one for humidty on nighttime on my environmental controller
20200103_111326.jpg

Got some organic shit to spray on it WPM and tore the infected leaves off.
Havent had it come back and it's been 2 weeks

Still been defoliating alot
Alot of controversy but it's been working for me

20200106_105558.jpg

Running a bit lower of a PH
No deficiencies as.PROMIX HP is a soiless medium. Not quite hydroponic like cococoir but kind of in the middle of soil and hydro
My runoff tests around 6.4 for a ph
I'm ok with that.
I dont trip over the little things anymore.
20200107_132957.jpg20200107_133544.jpg

And now gentlemen I am on

DAY 1:
WEEK 3: since 12/12

I dont defoliate heavy anymore.
Dont wanna stress them bitches out too much.
Just the odd fan leave now and again.
Let em know who's boss

CHRONIC WIDOW 10 week flower
SWEET ZOMBIE 7 week flower
JACKS GIRL 7-9 week
BANNA KUSH 7-9 week

I'm gonna run each of them a week over their recomended.

This is them today. No deficiencies. No mute burn. No stress.
Like I said some didnt take to the FIM but most sorted themselves out with some nice side branches.

I have had a near perfect grow so far minus the WPM........BIG improvement over my last grow.

The plant in the very top is the sweet zombie clone that the fixture split down the middle. Shes only got 3 tops but for having a fucked up stem I'll be damned if she didnt recover nicely.

JACKS GIRL
Very sativa looking
received_2585064568289165.jpeg

More sativa pheno chronic widows
Notice the two buds at the top. On half my plants that were taller than the others the day of flip to 12/12 I didnt fim but topped them. Figured since they would be growing for stretch this would be a fun time to kick em in the pussy
(Like I said earlier, I'm not afraid to try weird shit for science sake)
It definately helped push out them side branches on the JACKS GIRL and CHRONIC WIDOW
received_464471184217760.jpeg

I defoliated the fuck out of Jack's girl here as you can tell. I mean barely left any leaves on her as an experiment.
She seems to like the abuse.
Good girl.
That'll do

Oh and her nodes are kinda stretched far apart, the most if any of my plants, which is weird because shes directly under the 4100k Phillip's c.m.h
Guess that just boils down to her sativa dominant side??

But fuck me look at those lateral branches boys. No lst training and she only got FIMed once.
God luv 'er
I guess that puto is living proof heavy defoliating on a healthy plant isn't too stressful for it.
It's been my most defoliated plant, it was third last to flower, and its got the biggest buds out of all 12 at only 2 full weeks since flip

(Here's a sneak peek at my 3rd grow I just started)

Now like I said I love science. And experiments.

So even tho I've never taken a clone in my life, I figured that must mean I'm ready to cut 24 clones from my plants that were 2 weeks into flower and try the HIGHLY CRITIZED *****MONSTER CROPPING******
Let's see how this goes eiiiiiiiiiii

Will post that in another journal shortly

Heres some more pics of my setup
Probly wont be any pictures of the plants for a few more days.

I dont run AC yet and dont plan on it so my exhaust is always going to keep heat down from 2000 watts of lights so I have low humidty. Maybe 20% in my tent during the day.

Probly part of the reason they stay short and dont explode with growth I dunno I read plants adapt and can still breath out their stomata with low humidity still so it is what it is and wuz what it wuz.
I dont want to run AC and humidifiers so this is what I get. Ill explore other options in the future I'm sure.

Other than the humidity during the day thing hing.

Everything else is dialed in.

-Temps never get below 18c at night
-Temps never get above 26c during lights on. -Humidity never gets up past 50% RH at nightwith lights off

-Girls are watered every 4th day (some need every 3rd day some need 4th day I just give every 4th day to make FUCKING POSITIVE I dont overwater my damn plants)
I did that during my first grow. I cheat now definately, I mean the lift the pot method works but with those smart pots theres holes all the way down.
I can stick my cheap 14 dollar copper water probe to tell me EXACTLY where their wet and where their dry to within 1" and that is very fucking valuable information to a beginner.
No overwatering equals no stressed plant.
That's also why I switched from organic living soil and went to PRO MIX HIGH POROUSITY.

I went Chinese
450 usd delivered to my door
480 watt quantum board with samsung lm301h medium bin diodes.
Then UV and IR as well with a potentiometer to dial it up and down.

The difference between the top bin diodes HLG uses and the medium bin ones KINGBRITE from ali baba uses is 10% so I'm fine paying 450usd for chinese over 1000usd for american

WOW! I guess you could say that you really have arisen from the ashes on this one compared to the first one you described.
Great looking setup.

Cheers brother heres a peak at my FIRST EVER GROW. I wasn't joking when I said it was almost a total disaster. 7 or 8 months from seed to harvest. They were stunted and stressed 75% of their life.
But I powered through it and didnt quit and battled everyday to get to the end.

End product was 4 0z dry of big buds and 4 oz. Dry of popcorn
Off four plants and 600 watts

Look at how hot that soil was. It fried my plants. Then I gave them literally every mistake a first timer could make.

-heat stress
-Overwatering stress
-Super cropping stress
-fimmed em three times when they were already stressed and stunted and when they were 3 nodes high
-defoliated them like crazy while they were already under extreme stress
-Not enough nutrient stress
-they ate their 7 gal pot of organic soil and teas weren't helping so had to switch to synthetic GH when I kicked em into flower and that saved me.

I harvested a week too early

When I harvested I let them hang for 7 day days then jarred them with BOVIDA HUMIDIPACKS @63% rh and cured them for two months.

The end result was some very clean very smooth very powerful buds. Those were 4 chronic widow plants and they were dripping with crystal and resiny as all get out.

That was a great read. Plants are looking good. Made me feel a bit boring with my 2nd grow with all that your doing with yours :p Your plants went from looking ok in the first grow, the next picture they looked awful, what happened?

So because we only aloud ten pics per thread tried to just give the JUST of it.

But bottom line I moved them out the little tent into the big tent. And immediately fimmed for the 3rd time. So they were stressed. Then I put led lights way to close which caused them to feed like crazy and give themselves nute burn then I tried to flush a bit and overwatered them. It literally sent them in a downward spiral and took 2 months to recover. I was fucking with them too much. Did not keep it simple. And also they were in their pots too long and used all their nutrients in veg leaving them deficient for flower it's why I had to switch to synthetic nutes to try and save them.

Wow, you really did go for it on your first one, regardless of how it turned out, that’s impressive everything you tried, seems to have really paid off after looking at your current grow.

DAY 23 (since flip)

I apologize up above I fucked up what day i was on with that Jack's girl pic. I was a week behind.

These are the girls today
They doing their thing.
Only one set back
On two of my plants the WPM is back. Not super bad or nothing but fuuuuuck the infected plants are right in front of my oscilating fan and may have spread the spores.. Gonna have to try and control it till the end then wash that bloody tent real good.

As u can see on 3 of the pots (the clones)
I tied down some of the branches not for lst but just to spread the colas apart letting more light reach down

26 days since flip
Got em on 75% recomended dose from General Hydroponics flora series

Only the runt had a touch of burn on a few leaves.
That banana kush is kind of dissapointing. Very small in comparison to the other plants. All in all doing good. Took pictures with wifes mobile.......their not the greatest

These plants have all been heavily defoliated due to the WPM I'm trying to stay ahead of. I've been spraying with 8ph water from top to bottom every 4 days or so.

Also got potassium bicarbonate to mix with some RO water and milk (Ed Rosenhalls recipe for WPM) but only gonna use that once and relatively soon as I dont want to be spraying to much potassium on my buds in flower.

Will have to get a sulphur burner to rid myself of this shit for good.

It's my own fault for getting clones off my bro, humidty is 60-70% where hes from WPM is a common occurence. Oh well live and learn. Never ends.

DAY 35: since 1212 continues

Been staying ahead of the WPM Using ed Rosenhalls recipe. Works like a motherfucker. Alot of people say dont spray potassium bicarbonate on plants in flower. Or on the flowers........I say fuck all that. Been spraying em 5 minutes before lights oFF. Leaves a shiny surface on the leaves but thats about it. No deficiencies on em or any lockouts or nothing.
And best of all.......no mildew

Day 42: since 1212

Busy AF lately everything's going good. Staying ahead of the WPM. Only a few small patches. Spraying for it every 4 days.

Going back to work tommorow for 20 days. Plants be finished when I get back.

All the buds are starting to harden and get their calaxy's now.

Heres a fun fact. I work 20 days a month away from home. My wife who has never grown, and hates growing, looks after my my plants while Im Away. They got a TINY bit of nute burn on a few plants cuz they needed a flush and havent been getting 10-20% runoff when she waters.

Is what it is. It's why I only feed half strength nutes....... So the fact their doing as good as they are for a beginner, who's directing another beginner who hates the whole process to begin with is a bloody miracle.

Plants doing good. Getting a little more nute burnt. Cant be helped. Wife doesnt give em enough water to get 20% runoff because she doesnt want to empty the trays.
Might consider running coco for next grow to avoid this. It's just a bit on the tips not like leaves are super curly or nothing.

Got some pictures again their not the greatest.

BREEDER recomended flowering times.
'Banana Kush' ---- 7-9 weeks
'Sweet zombie' --- 7-8 weeks
'Jack's girl' ---------- 8-10 weeks
'Chronic widow' -- 10 weeks

I'm gonna run them all 9 weeks accept chronic widow I'll run 10
