4 x White Widow Hydro

snowbound

Well-Known Member
So time to try again. I have 5 seedlings going, will grow 4 of the 5.

A couple days ago they looked fine, today not so much. They are in rockwool. PH of water i am using is 5.6.

I placed them in the 6" cubes on March 2. On March 4 I opened the vents on the dome, still using a heating pad under dome off and on over the day.

March 7, this morning I gave them a little drink, poured off excess in bottom of tray.

I don't know if they are too wet, or not enough nitrogen or something else all together.

Any and all ideas welcomed...

Nothing wrong with what's going on there. The older, previous leaves will suffer some deficiencies as your plant struggles to throw roots out.....that's why a lot cut the tips off. You've got a great start going there. Keep the rockwood moist, doing great!

Kinda big to still be in a germ dome, they look hungry to me
I'd toss em in the DWC soon with 1/4 strength nutes

You have roots showing g so I'd say they are ready to rock and roll

Thanks guys. I will make an effort to get them under the big lights tom. At the very latest the day after. The tent is currently being used to dry first crop.

I am using a 6.5 x 6.5 x 6.5' tent. Two 1000W air cooled HID lights.
For veg I use one HPS and one MH bulb.
I am using clay pellets with the seedlings in 4" rockwool cubes. The cubes were presoaked in 5.7 ph water before seedlings were added.

I use drippers, not a fan favorite here I know. :)
80 liter reservoir, I pump the nutes into the tent and pump them back out to reservoir. Not ideal but will work till summer redesign.

This is what I am starting with... seeds were popped on Feb 23

I will be watching closely. Once again you will be about two weeks ahead of me. What made you chose WW again?

Couple of reasons. Out of the 4 plants I just grew the WW seemed more resilient to my screwups.

I had WW and BC Big Bud feminized seeds on hand so it was one or the other, easy choice for now.

This is only my second time trying hydro so I think I am better off with something relatively easy to grow until such a time when I have more of this nailed down.

It's not rocket science for sure but there are still many pitfalls to avoid, the more I can keep constant, than the better handle I should have on the grow.

As my buddy always says......"fill your jars 1st, then screw around", lol.
Looking good!

My WWxBB are finally ready for the flush, spotted a few small clusters of amber tri. last evening. 82 days in flower. Short of the long flower period they were relativity easy to look after. Next up are feminized Northern Lights with a slight system change.

Ok, so back at it. :)

Reservoir is 80 liters @ EC 0.6, ph @ 5.7, water temp is 68'. With the seedlings being in rockwool I set the timer for 15 mins on for feed and 45 mins off. As you all know rockwool holds water crazy so I shall see how this goes for couple of days. Don't want to drown them.

I have one MH on for a couple days at least till they get used to the big lights. I have the dimmer set down to 600W

Off to a great start again snowbound. Looks to me like your earlier problem was most likely just a bit of a nutrient deficiency from growing so long in the dome while waiting on the tent to free up. It should take care of itself now that you've introduced nutrients.

Thanks Scrogdawg. I think the nutes will now straighten things out as mentioned. And I have Z9 from the start this time around.
I am on the clock with this grow. :) Wife wants to start up the B&B for June. Should be just enough time to squeeze the grow in. :thumb:

Little girls are stabilizing after the transplant. I would expect as soon as the roots break out of the bottom of the baskets and get to soaking in the nute solution they will take right off.

As usual just no way that I can see to get humidity up without crazy heat. I would rather have humidity at only 25% than heat soaring up into the 80's.

How big is the room the tent is in ? My tent is in a 12’x16’ room when it gets low I humidify the space outside at max humidity. It may not get there 60% but it seems to help in veg .

The room is 12' x 10'

The bigger issue is controlling heat from the lights. I only have one running right now @ 600W
In order to control the heat the air is moved out so fast that humidity has no chance, most especially when I turn on the second light and crank them up in wattage.

Last go around I had at one point a humidifier going full time, 2 open buckets of water and 2 wet towels on the floor. All to no avail.

It did not seem to hurt me last time so I have come to the conclusion that if there is one factor that cannot be maximized without too much penalty it is humidity. :)

I did for a while last grow mist the plants a couple times a day during veg cycle.
