400W - DWC - SCROG - Nirvana Hawaii Maui Waui

Today is day 16 of flower
I changed the reservoir to 980ppm, which is the full strength prescribed by lucas at 7g maxibloom per gal of water (1.85g per litre). Keep in mind my tap water is ~150ppm. Prior to this, the ppm kept rising.

I also adjusted the light's height as well as the angle of the reflector for optimum footprint on the trellis.

The tops are getting quite long. The tallest top is around 10" from the screen. I will try to tuck the plant to even out the outer edge with the taller tops. If anything, I may just moderately defoliate the tallest nugs and stunt their growth, allowing the shorter tops to keep up. I will also prune any useless tops that are too short. The nugs are growing quite fast, all thanks to the DWC system.

Here are some pics. You can see how the taller tops are somewhat shading the shorter tops at the edges.

Today is day 29 or day 30 of flowering.
-I defoliated moderate/heavily on day 22 or 23 of flower. Since then, I continued to defoliate individual leaves that I missed. Many weak tops were also pruned off to reduce the clutter.
-Many tops were touching one another, so zip ties were used to fix that.
-The reflector was also opened up to increase the footprint; the light was lowered to 12" above the canopy with the closest distance between the light and a top being 11"
-The reservoir was just changed to 500ppm. The reservoir was rising with a ppm of 600, indicating that the concentration was too high. I think the lowered consumption is due to the defoliation, as fewer fan leaves means less transpiration.
- The average length of tops is around 10", with tops ranging from 8" to 12" in length. I was a unfortunately somewhat neglecting the tucking duties during the stretch, which is why there is such a large variation in length.
- The leaves are more yellow in the centre-most area of the trellis. It is significantly yellower in an area of about 2.5'x2.5'

Anyways since the thread has not been updated in a while, I have come back with a large pic-drop

Today is day 45 of flower, ppm is 500. Will defoliate again on day 49.

Here are some dank nug pics

Today is day 56 of flower.
ppms remain at 500, but i think it may be too low, as the leaves are yellowing, signifying nitrogen (N) deficiency.
I will probably continue at 500ppm since harvest day is almost here; Nirvana recommends 9-11 weeks until harvest.
I will check with a usb microscope by looking at the trichomes.

As you can see below, trichomes are cloudy and clear. I will harvest when there are a few amber trichomes (10-25%) for maximum potency with Sativa effects

On Day 57, I switched the HPS out for a MH.
After reading advice supposedly originating from DJ Short, I decided to go through with it.

Apparently, for sativas, using MH for the last few weeks of flower will help with potency and terpene production.
I will harvest when trichomes are ready; anywhere from day 63 to 77+ days of flowering

Today is day 61 of flower.

The calyxes look swollen on all the buds.
I found 1 nanner on the largest bud.

I believe that the single nanner is due to feminized genetics or because it has been flowering for almost 9 weeks; it can be a cue from the plant that flowering is almost over.

Anyways, with that single nanner in mind, I will harvest asap, as soon as I can confirm that there are no longer any clear trichomes.

I am hoping day 63/64 will be harvest day, but if not, I plan on checking trichomes every 3 days.
Therefore, the potential harvest day could be day 63/64, 67, 70, etc.

Today is day 65 of flower. I will be chopping on day 67.
Below are some trichome shots. As you can see, there are some amber trichomes.
I also put the light to 10on/14off for last 2 days, as it looks like foxtails were starting to form a bit.

I chopped one nug and trimmed it to show what it looks like and also for better trichome observations.

trichome shots are of this nug:

final yield is 322g (11.35oz) for 0.8g/w

I wet-trimmed and separated all nugs from stems; the buds were then put into a brown paper bag.
I dried in large brown paper bags (for cleaning up leaves during autumn). It took 12 days for all the buds to dry to perfect curing humidity.

134g (4.72oz) of nearly bone-dry, untrimmed popcorn buds; most buds are actually decent size (about .8" in length), but they seemed too small to invest time to trim when it was harvested.

188g (6.63oz) of smokable bud. They are currently placed into jars, as they are just dry enough. I will burp them until relative humidity is around 63% and leave them to cure.

There is no set time for the cure; I will smoke the bud as desired, however, I will try to keep and an oz or two for 6 months or more.
Before smoking, I like to bring the humidity down to around 58% relative humidity. In my experience, it grinds much better. Never did a blind test, but it seems to burn better and smoke smoother as well, compared with 63% out of the jar.

Hope all is well in your world.

Ahhhh let me hop onto this train! I have some questions about his setup, I have almost identical setup(except I use dwc). All answers/advices welcomed!

1. He's using a 26L(7gal) rez and uses Lucas formula, how do you mix the nutrient in the rez? Since the ratio is 1:2, and say micro is 5 and bloom 10ml per gal. So do you add 35ml micro and 70ml bloom to the rez? And just use the rez to top off the 5gal bucket?(assuming ppm remains constant)

2. He's starting ppm at veg is at 1550, and later jumped to 2500! I thought the highest you can go without damaging the flower is 1600?

3."I pH the sol'n to 5.2, as the bucket with the airstone has a difference of +0.3 (e.g. rez pH is 5.2, root pH is 5.5), which I attribute to the dissolved oxygen."
If mixing 5.2 with 5.5.. Isn't it 5.3 after mixing? And isn't it too acidic...?

Any input is greatly appreciated!
