I do find the carnival to be a pretty ass bud but I do agree about the trim job. If it was trimmed perfectly I would have probably voted for it. Now I'm not one that's picky about trimming I personally just rush through it myself but most of the trim on the purp bud is just yellowed out leaves with little frost and it kind of kills the vibe of it in my opinion... Now if it were some green sugar leaves coated In frost it'd probably look a bit better...


I'm by no means dogging on his bud though it is gorgeous but everyone has their preferences and I personally think it's a worthy contender I just thought it would of shined more if all those leaves were trimmed off and it was solid purp.

But I do agree also I believe hands down that there are quiet a few people that didn't get a fraction of the votes they should have in my opinion but that's just how it goes. Once a few people start taking lead those tend to be the ones that get the votes. I already got into the topic of who I personally thought was best a couple weeks back so I'm not gonna go back into that. Everyone has their own vote and own opinion and hopefully everyone's playing by the rules.

Yeah, and just for the record I'm not trying to dog on TheRedDragon's hard work and skill in creating this bud. But the bud itself, I don't like so much compared to other's. *shrugs*

I hate that we can't speak critically about this stuff without walking on egg shells. It's too easy for people to feel like others are just being overly critical online because you can't hear tone of voice or inflection or any of that stuff. So just want to say I am only speaking critically in the most figurative of ways. It's a contest, there has to be some criticism.

But I mean, if I had that bud in front of me, I'd pull those leaves off and smoke the hell out of it!

Maybe anonymising the comp in some way would eliminate the perceived problem of 'popularity'... (as in make the entrants' ID hidden somehow, keep voting transparent).

Although likely that would mean more work for the 420crew and they don't really need that do they?!

Personally I always vote for the nug that I would most like to smoke, based only on its looks (and ok size too .) so it's totally subjective and dependent on my mood...

Best thing we could all do is to encourage more people to vote!

Explain that one for me please? How would it be more artistic to just leave long pieces of trim on your bud? I could understand if the leaves are purple and red but that's not what was originally being discussed. I'm not understanding how it's more artistic to not take your time and trim the bud perfectly though... Because trust me some of the people in the entry definitely took a very long time trimming their buds to be perfect and that takes dedication... I sure couldn't do it I just snip down the sides real quick.

When I vote for a plant or a bud, I look at color composition and the appeal and of the bud. Bald buds are kinda like bald heads, they look kinda plain to me. A little leaf helps make it more picturesque imop.

I generally don't vote for purple buds, because I generally don't find they smoke as well as the alternate phenotype if there is one.

And I've grown purple plants just for the vote and never smoked them, so we all have our peculiar likes.

From the stand-point of a smoker who detests leaves, I have to disagree with you, and at the risk of sounding insulting, I wouldn't even say that bud is qualified for this competition as "Ready to smoke" because I'd be hand trimming that thing before I smoked it. I don't like the taste of leaves, frost or not. I won't buy weed from a dispensary if it looks like that anymore either. I once got an ounce of flower from a dispensary that had 2 grams of leaves I had to pluck off of it. I went back the next day and complained, and apparently so did everyone else, because they gave me a free 8th.

But I hear what you're saying. Times and trends change, if more people are really into untrimmed bud, then let the votes reflect that. I just have concerns that people aren't actually voting for the bud they think looks best. I couldn't even choose one as "best" this time around, but it surely wasn't between the top two leads we currently have. Personally I couldn't choose between the Afrodite, Lemon Garlic OG and GSC.

Tastes vary & there’s nothing insulting ‘bout that or leafism. I’m glad that many like tight trimmed porn bud. The best dispensary weed I’ve got in my kit, is a shaggily trimmed outdoor grown NY Diesel, with fairly drab color, too. Smokes like skunky heaven & packs a punch like Thor’s hammer. Apparently no one liked how it looked, so the dispensary blew it out for $3/g & I stocked up on it after trying it out.

& on the frost leaf front, over the holidays an ol’ amigo of mine & I worked thru a bunch o’ bud over several days, including dispensary bud & my grows over the past two years. We agreed that the stoniest smoke of all was a joint of my dried & cured frost leaves that I’d sequestered from my ultimate trims this fall. Knocked us down, twice. Neither of us are cork-sniffers, but both of us have been smoking & growing for more than 40 yrs each, which might account for something. Or not. We're just stoners
