Hello and Welcome to my next mini adventure! Time to try something a little different, and for the first time in quite a while, I going back to COCO! I’ve grown hydro in hydroton or expanded glass for the last 4 grows, and I just wanted to change it up.

When looking at the layout of my shop, I realized I had a spot I could insulate and make Into a grow booth of some sort...

Off to the hardware store for rigid insulation, gorilla tape, and the indoor grow store for the rest. I have a 8x5 hydro grow room, and a 2 foot tall by 3 foot wide by 2 foot deep clone chamber. What was missing was the in between space, a nice veg or preflower spot. This led me to the conclusion that I needed to make one. So the newest space is 2 deep, 3 wide, and 4 tall.

Once I finished the build, I looked thru the leftover lights I have hanging around, and needed to choose from 2...a 150 watt actual draw blue and white LED that is dimmable and the spectrums and separate, or a 150 watt HPS bloom lamp. As cold as it’s been, and is going to be, I went with the HPS. We are flipping to flower in 5 days, so I figured the plants could take the wrong spectrum for a short period.

For my strains, we have 7 Gorilla Bombs, and 3 Stankberry, totaling 10 of 12 potential sites. They are mixed up in these photos, but all the clones are similar in structure and size, minus a couple. The temp holds at about 75 with door closed and lights on, just where I want it

For nutrients, I have been just feeding a diluted mixture of clonex. Will switch to a more flower aggressive nute mix. I tend to like the CANNA nutes for most purposes.

Took the clones 20 days ago from my moms...

They rooted really well within 10 days...

Moved into green or clear cups with drain holes and stayed just a little longer in the dome...

Lastly they were uppotted Into their final pots, and placed into the grow chamber and watered with warm water.

Hey Jesse how's it going. Have you ran the Stankberry before already?

Looks cool. I have been thinking about trying Stanks ATF in coco for my next cycle.
Howdy Fert! I have run some Stank genetics before, and was thrilled with the outcome. I am growing the Stankberry in my SCROG grow and liked it so much, even before flower, that I wanted to clone and grow some more!

Thanks for saying Hi!

Cheers

Monday - Snow day - SOG update! Well, everything grew about an inch last night...and I realized I have a problem coming up. In a 24 hour clone box the light heats the space, but in a flower box, that is in an Unheated shop, we need heat. Anyone have any suggestions? I am thinking a 12v 150w Heater with fan, and thermostatic control to shut it off when needed. Any of y’all have experience with heating and cooling in the mini-level?

Here are the shots from today.

Welcome both of you...had hoped to see you show up Van, seeing how you fathered some of these!

This booth definitely is promoting growth, they are expanding fast! I’m just waiting for my heater and thermostat to get here so I can flip them!

Thanks for checking in!

Well, I think I may have figured out my heating issue well enough for now. This morning I took my secondary exhaust fan (not needed in winter, but still installed with all piping intact) and fed that into the SOG box, then, cut an output exhaust, the same size as the input, and put a damper in that will open when needing the warmer air for lights out. It’s running now, and in a couple hours I will check the temp again. It seemed to be holding at 72 well, but who knows.

Here are some shots of the ladies:)!

Stankberry is first...

And next up is Gorilla Bomb. This is the only plant of the bunch to have been topped. It was growing so vigorously that I had to top it while still in the clone dome, lol. Will be interesting to see if she bushes out hard and becomes a bully. Ha!

Even if you have a separate heat scheme, use a small (1000-1,500 W) fan forced electric heater which you can get anywhere as a reliable backup...they all have thermostats and are quite safe to use. I prefer electric wire type heaters to ceramic or oil heaters because they heat up and cool down the fastest.

I hang it a little off the floor just to reduce the chance of a leaf scrap or other tiny flammable thing blowing in there. And get one with a metal body they are built the best.

Grow is lookin' good brother!

Peace, Hyena

SOG is rocking and filling back in! Each plant is drinking lots and will require a watering system at some point. Not today, maybe next week!? Running out of power, HA!

Weekend Update! The stretch is underway, and the flowers are starting to develop. Watering every other day until just a bit of runoff. Beautiful and crisp day here in Washington!

I’m so excited for these to bulk up, it’s fun to watch so many similar plants at the same stage becoming like a hedge.

Happy Sunday!

Hey @Van Stank...can you tell which ones are the Stankberry;)?

Ok, that was too easy, lol:)

Flowers are growing and the stretch is almost over...seems like I’m gonna end up figuring how to Yoyo a bunch of these girls, primarily the STANKS!

Cheers all and here’s to @Van Stank for being rad.

Update time! Well, those naughty Stank ladies just got too tall for the booth, so they got upgraded to the big flower room, and they seem happy with the cooler temps, we will see how they adjust to the LED from the HID. They look awesome however, and it should be neat to see some finish in coco, while others are in expanded glass.

So what’s left in the SOG? Just gorilla bomb, and they have reached their height potential, now for bulk. I did a second defoliation a couple days ago (22 days from flip) and will do one more in another 20 or so days. I had my temps in the 2 booths balanced really well...until it started to warm up, now the booths are sitting between 66-85. Adding 2 little booster fans this weekend, should help bring us back down to 80 or even a little lower. Here are a couple photos of progress since the defol.

The clones that I took from these gals are ready to up pot, but I think I will need to torture them a little longer before we do that. All in all other than temps, the mini grows seem to be going ok.
