45,500 Tonnes Of Wild Hemp Destroyed

MOSCOW- More than 45,500 tonnes of wild hemp were destroyed in the Mak 2007 anti-drug operation, a source at the Federal Drug Control Service told Itar-Tass on Friday.

“Some 2,400 areas under wild hemp were found on 14,600 hectares in the course of the operation,” he said.

Nearly one million hectares of Russian land is covered with wild hemp. Drug dealers are trying to hide their crops in remote areas difficult of access – in the highlands, canyons and forests – amid other agricultural crops.

The police have also found hemp crops at farmsteads. “Mak 2007 revealed 749 areas of illegal crops on the total area of eight hectares. About 13 tonnes of illegal crops, 83% of them hemp, were destroyed,” the source said.

Some of the illegal crops were poisoned with highly effective herbicides.

The Federal Space Service designed a technology of the aerospace search and monitoring of illegal crops.

supposedly pot has a distinct electromagnetic signature - either infared light or some narrow range nanometer of visible or some combination of the two

they can find indoor grow ops with infared if the grow isn't shielded
so they cant get accurate images looking through walls for grow light shaped heat sources try googling infared imaging
but really radar imaging can find buried objects courtesy military mission find buried nuke missle sites archeology loves these gadgets have seen them in use at a dig

Didn't the Supreme Court say cops couldn't "drive-by" and infrared people's houses? Invasion of privacy? Or was I just hoping they'd say that? Of course, that doesn't help our Russian friends any...

Yeah but that's like sayin' they can't scan for your cordless phone or clone your cell, either.
They do it anyway to confirm their intel/suspicions
but can't use it in court so they develope other evidence to get ya'.
