850 Pounds Of Marijuana Found In San Marcos Airport

TX - Two men are in custody after close to 1,000 pounds of marijuana were found in an SUV.

According to The Hays County Sheriff's Office, drugs were seen being loaded from a plane into a vehicle Wednesday night at the San Marcos Airport.

Law enforcement followed the vehicle into San Marcos city limits. Authorities pulled the vehicle over Interstate-35 at River Ridge Parkway. They found 850 pounds of marijuana in large duffle bags.

The driver of the vehicle, Melvin Alexander Duran of Austin, was charged with possession of marijuana.

A juvenile in the vehicle was also taken into custody.

The pilot of the plane was Joe Frank Corder of Wimberley. He was charged with delivery of marijuana, a first degree felony.
