Adubbsac's Soil Closet CFL Grow - SSH

I've been cruising this site for awhile and decided it was time to grow some of my own stash. I purchased some super silver haze seeds as my strain.
This is a college student's grow and money is tight.. so no fancy gear here. I am simply looking to make it work the best I can with as little material costs as possible! For this reason I am creating this grow journal to hopefully get some feedback that will help guide me through it.

Location: Bedroom Closet
Lights: 68 watt (300 equivalent) CFL-2700K, 4200 lumens. I have up to five 23 watt cfls available as well (100 equivalent, 2700K, 1600 lumens) and a couple 23 watt lights with 120 equivalence and 1300 lumen output- also 2300K
Ventilation: Still figuring this out- looking for advice on cheap ventilation options
Temp/Humidity: sitting at 80 degrees currently with 48% humidity
Medium: 50% soil 50% perlite

I started by germinating 6 seeds, 3 from soil ( friend wanted to try this) and the other three i used paper towel method, then planted. One didnt germinate. This was started 7 days ago and Ive got 2 plants sprouted, 4 days old and the rest I am still waiting on, not sure if they are going to sprout...

I probably missed plenty but will be adding pictures and additional information as I go and looking for constructive criticism to get these ladies going.

will do thanks for the tip, ill be taping up the cups until they're ready for a transplant

Re: adubbsac's soil closet CFL grow-SSH

Been working on the set up a little bit and put together my 23 watt CFLs into one hanging light. so i have two hanging fixtures and a total of 12200 lumens in there available for lighting. added some mylar and some black tape to the cups and things are looking better.

Re: adubbsac's soil closet CFL grow-SSH

You also might want to throw in some 6500k cfls in there, they are the blueish ones which are the best spectrum for veg and are cheap (8 or so dollars for 2 100w equivalents at your local home depot). It is my understanding that the 6500k spectrum bulbs aide towards foliage growth and 2700k bulbs lean more towards stem growth in the beginning stages. So a mixture leaning towards 6500k for veg and 2700k for flower seems to be the way to go. Im sure they will grow either way, later man.

I've heard the same thing about the spectrums, I just used what I had at my house to get it started. Purchased two of those 6500K 100 watt equivalents today for $4.25 half off. Decided I'm gonna get some more of those and make the entire right fixture 6500K and the left 2700K and compare the two.

added another one

Re: adubbsac's soil closet CFL grow-SSH

super silver haze plants are coming along nice. Here is some pics of the three I have growing now..I have a fourth which is just now sprouting.
The first lady (hopefully), Demi, is the one being grown under the light fixture with 3 23 watt soft cfls and 2 27 watt daylight cfls.

My other plant that has been transplanted is under the 68 watt cfl. Interesting leave pattern here.

And the third that has sprouted..

Re: adubbsac's soil closet CFL grow-SSH

Re: adubbsac's soil closet CFL grow-SSH

The older two plants are 3 weeks today. I have had them on 24 hour lighting and am now going to switch to 18/6 with these and the other two younger plants, which are two weeks. I am wanting to get some nutrients for them as none of them have been fed with anything but water yet. Here are some pics showing the different silver haze plants:

its been a bit since my last update and i have some progress to share. I have one really nice looking lady (the one i topped) which is growing with 4 even main stems.

however, i ran into a little trouble with some nute burns because im a cheap ass and used miracle grow and have some pics i would love some feedback on! My question is what exactly is going wrong here and will the unhealthy leaves correct themselves if i modify the feeding? Here are some pics of the three other super silver haze plants..

Just catching up on journals and saw this one. Sorry I didnt see it sooner. What strength did you use the miracle grow at? i know people do use it its just alot hotter than mary jane likes. I know its a little late but I would say a good flush to rinse out excess nutes and a few days of just water would be a good idea. followed by either a much more diluted miracle grow solution or an alternate fert that isn't quite so touchy. Hope things have worked out ok in the meantime :)

I am going to pick back up on this journal through the end of flowering. i didnt have access to post to my journal, my apologies, but i will now be doing some more regular updates. I am now on day 41 of my super silver haze and random strain cfl grow. my plants are now in 5 gallon pots with 60/40 soil/perlite and on a regular feeding schedule using miracle grow 4-12-4 (slightly diluted)
This is a test as a first time grower to see how the budget grow works.
Here are some picks of the two ladies:

How did this grow turn out?

We would love to be updated with some pictures and info!

How about posting a 420 Strain Review?

I am moving this to abandoned journals until we get updates.

Thanks and hope all is well in your world!

Love and respect from all of us here at 420 Magazine!
