Organizers of the annual marijuana freedom festival in Amherst are celebrating the 20th anniversary of the event with two days of events this year.

The annual "Extravaganja" on the town common kicks off Saturday and carries on into Sunday with live music, vendors and speakers.

The event meant to promote the legalization of marijuana is sponsored by the Cannabis Reform Coalition at the University of Massachusetts.

Organizers have been working with police and other town officials to keep this year's event incident free, much like last year.

Organizers say selling pot will not be tolerated and alcohol is prohibited.

Amherst voters in 2000 supported a non-binding referendum calling for the town to relax enforcement of marijuana laws.
