Ive been saving some buds for a rainy day..and this maybe a dumb question, but over time does weed lose its potency? \

Weed is like wine as long as it's stored right it gets better with time LOL. I had a few zips from a few years ago and it smoked lovely smooth nice taste better than when it was first cured.

The longer curing periods improves taste over a few months

3 or 4 months of curing is about optimal, 6 months or more doesn't really improve much on taste....


Shelf life & potency depends on strain some store better than others but suggest 9 to 12 months average before degrading in potency.

This may depend on storage method tho... vacuum sealed bags is pretty good for real long storage..

That works fine as long as it is stored at room temperatures in a dark place, I use a closed cardboard box.

Yup most of us use air tight jars even myself... so 9 to 12 months is expected average if stored in a cool dark place, you might get longer with some strains...


Light degrades THC by the way, leave a nug on the table for a few days or so & ya see the difference !




Side note - you can shop around for vacuum sealed bag units (food grade stuff)
