April 25th-26th Berkeley Conference and Activist Training/Strategy Session Open to All!

Dear ASA Supporter,

Student activism is and has always been the life blood of social justice struggles throughout history. Fighting for the medical use of cannabis is no different.

Since ASA was founded, Students for Sensible Drug Policy has been one of our closest allies. Many of ASAa_Ts staff, both past and present, were trained and developed as activists with SSDP. ASA would not be where it is today without the incredible opportunities that this student movement has provided.

That is why, on April 25th-26th, ASA is honored to be working in concert with SSDPa_Ts San Francisco office and the University of California, Berkeley Chapter as they host their first ever West Coast Regional SSDP Conference in Berkeley, California.

ASA is using this opportunity to host a California Strategy Session alongside the SSDP Conference, with all ASA activists, chapter leaders, members, and supporters invited!

The Conference will feature two days of activist training, with professional workshops on media skills, project planning, fundraising, and effective advocacy. In addition, ASA leadership will host special sessions on medical cannabis in California. Wea_Tll talk about recent events, including the 2008 California Attorney General Guidelines and the new American policy presented by President Barack Obama and US Attorney General Eric Holder, and what they mean for the future of medical cannabis in California.

Most important, wea_Tll talk strategy around important California concerns, like dealing with local police, regulations for collectives & cooperatives, and increasing the fight for basic civil rights for medical cannabis patients in California.

Don't wait to register for the conference and book your hotels! Space is filling up fast!

See you there!

Sincerely,

George Pappas Field Coordinator Americans for Safe Access
