Washington State - Bellevue, one of Washington's largest cities, has rejected a ban on the sale of recreational marijuana. On Tuesday, the City Council voted 5-2 to reject a proposed moratorium on retail marijuana stores. Council members who rejected the moratorium said they wanted to honor the will of Bellevue voters, who approved legalizing recreational marijuana in 2012 with 58 percent of the vote. The rejection of a moratorium paves the way for the four stores approved for Bellevue by the Washington State Liquor Control Board. The city's Planning Commission will now begin work on permanent regulations for recreational marijuana. By population, Bellevue is Washington's 5th largest city, according to the 2010 Census.
