Big Buddha Cheese

Today I picked up, from my apprentice, the clones that he had taken care of while I was away. They were taken prior to going into flower.
He only misted them over the 18 days he had them so there was not much growth. Only lost one out of 14, good for him, so made up a lite nute mix and put them under T5's. Want to keep them in solos at least until my 5th week of flower, then put them in one gallon pot, not sure if plastic or smart pots, till harvesting those in the tent When the tent is empty I will move them in there till the smoke test tell us which ones to keep and clone for the spring grow.
Set up in the tub with the rez so no drainage issues. Have put a double layer of weed barrier to shield the light from the clones for getting to the plants in the other room.

I told him to come by every other day to see how they are going to respond to my treatments.

Hey GR. I'm gonna pull up a chair here in the back. I watched your monster crop grow which was amazing and this one is too. Never seen anything like your vertical screen training. Really cool! :high-five:

Thanks Buddy,

There are some amazing vert grows out there and it takes a bit to get it.
On this grow I missed my 12/12 starting point by two weeks due to our efforts in Florida, but I will be doing things I have never tried before to control the height. I have already done Super Cropping in early flower and have no idea how it is going to effect the grow. Everything beyond this point is a guess.
Hey how do we discover if we don't occasionally have to face a good challenge. If I fuck up too bad with this amount of growth I will still get enough cannabis to make a good batch of FECO.
I plan on controlling the amount of growth by using the netting, LST, and Super Cropping as needed, flower or not. I have seen some amazing late manipulation grows, and I am one lucky MF, always have been. So go with the flow.

Day 14 of 12/12

Not much to show, just trying to keep them out of the lights. So I ended up putting up the nets to hold them back. Normally don't do that till late in flower, and when I defo next week I will probably remove the net and do some retie back to the screen.

Well time to start another grow, this time it's again a vertical grow with Big Buddha Cheese, 8/18.
Started 7 seeds in water for 36 hrs then into paper towels for another 24 plus hours, then into coco solo's.
It only took a day for three of the solo's to pop and another day for the forth, but nothing since. I just put 3 more seeds soaking and then into paper towels. Hope to put them into coco solo's in the morning.
Normally I get 90 plus % germ, not sure what I will get with this, but hate having to plant 10 seeds to get at least 5 up.
Hey gr 865. Look'n good but...seeds aren't what they used to be. I hate that too! I chalk it it up to everybody and their mother starting seed companies and now there's a glut and we get "stale" seeds.

Please don't think I'm messing with you, but I got some stupid questions even though I've been growing successfully commercially for over 20 years. But only one way. I'll tell you why I'm asking later if you take zee time to answer when you're probably thinking I should know better but...
I got some basic questions for you though:

Why Do you like Big Buddha cheese?
Why do you use coco instead of a peat moss based Pro Mix?
What is a vertical grow?
Why do so many people like you use those red beer cups to plant their sprouted seeds?
Have you ever heard of, "The first 4 inches is all you need rule"?

I usually order feminized Cali OG-Kush for my basement experimental grow. My last order a couple turned out to be male. If this ever happens again, I'll scream like a girl! Just joking. But if this ever happens again I'm thinking I'll put one female and one male together in a new separate grow room and let 'em mate and then I'll have my own unlimited fresh supply. What do you think?

Not a problem at all everything we can learn about this fabulous plant we are the better for it.

Why Do you like Big Buddha cheese?
100% Indica, big Indica fan, makes good FECO!

Why do you use coco instead of a peat moss based Pro Mix?
Peat is been know to contain high salt content, never grown in it, only coco.

What is a vertical grow?
Look at my Big Buddha Cheese thread, it will show you what it is. Basically growing with a bare bulb or two hung vertical and the plants are placed around them, some in the fashion I grow, while others hang multiple lights bare bulb between the plants.

Why do so many people like you use those red beer cups to plant their sprouted seeds?
Easy, cheap and I always have them around.

Have you ever heard of, "The first 4 inches is all you need rule"?
No, I have not.

I have never breed cannabis, so I really have no idea.

I like trying different strains, have an ongoing FECO jar that I add to with each different strain I grow. It contains 5 different strains now. Of course as I use it daily, 0.3 to 0.4 ml per day, I go through it fairly fast. I normally make with each new batch of cannabis I grow, around 60 to 80 grams of FECO. That is between 750 and 1000 doses.

Hope I helped you my friend, and good luck on your grows.

Well, couldn't wait any longer, they were all growing into the lamps.
So pull them from the tent, removed the netting and did the major 21 day prune two days early.

Here they were on day 12 of 12/12, they were tied back with netting on 11/7 and retied on 11/12.

Then had to tightened again on the 11/16 as they were growing into the lamps again.

So today, day 19 of 12/12
This one I did first and went a little crazy.

Ahhh, have room around the lamps again, well for another few days at least. Will probably need to work on then next weekend.
20181119_153658.jpg

Damn it took me 8 hrs to do today's work on the ladies, only a couple of breaks. But it is fun having them all untied, hanging free and then figuring the best way to tie them back trying to get as many buds sites exposed as possible.

Looks about what my G13 Haze looked like at this stage, except for the height, two extra weeks of veg before going into flower is a killer. Hopefully the return will justify the extra time.

GR

Side note!
New irrigation system is working great, dialing in times. Love being able to do cycles in seconds.

Will see what kind of grow back I get, I expect it to respond fairly rapidly due to the root mass.
Not sure so many factors, but I expect at least a gram/Watt. My last couple of verticals only had 4 plants produce to my satisfaction and I got 26.5 and 24.5 zips off them. So with the size of these now and seeing as it is supposed to be a heavy producer, hoping to get at least that.
As long as a get a sufficient amount to make FECO I will be happy.

Just watered the baby's!

While my apprentice had them during my trip to Florida he had them in his tent with his flowering plants for the about 8 days before I picked them up. My bad, I should have picked them up as soon as I got back from Florida. Well they had begun to flower when I picked them up. So they have been going through hormone changes for that past 10 days and are finely beginning to veg again.
20181119_180224 (2).jpg

All five plants are represented, #4 & 5 had only 1 clone each make it. The rest have two or three each.
Plan on growing them all until I harvest their mothers then select the one or two I want to grow out and maybe try a SOG with either 24 one gallon smart pots. Will decide when the time comes. My apprentice will get however many he wants to grow and the remainder of the plants will go to my buddies with the PTSD group. Those guys are getting good at growing. They still have me make their FECO because I have the equipment.

Nice grow man, i really want to see girls how they look in the end. Did you grow this way before? Wonder how the buds will grow probablly you must tie then to the netting so the branches dont fall over and snap

Last night at the 9 PM cycle I notice the pressure was lacking at the emitters, upon checking the pump and rez I noticed that the tubing had split at the anti-siphon fitting. I removed the section of 3/8" tubing and replaced it with a new section, only 6" long. then reinstalled the 1/4" ball valve. I use the ball valve as a anti-siphon device.
20181125_084313 (2).jpg

Ta Ta, problem solved, until I looked in the tent when I tested the fitting. One of the 1/4" tubes broke at the QC fitting and was laying on the floor of the catch tray just spurting out solution. The arrow point to the break point.
20181005_095114_LI.jpg

The other emitters were just barely weeping, so shut it all down, removed the little piece of 1/4" tubing off the QC fitting, snipped the ragged end of the 1/4" tubing and reattached to the QC fitting. Fortunately it happened at the start of the nights cycles so after repair all was good.
Buds forming well at day 25 of 12/12.
20181125_090041 (2).jpg

Tomorrow I will be removing the pressure reducer and see how the system works without the reducer, I will use the 1/4 inch ball valve to regulate the pressure and see how it works.

It's a jungle in there!
