Blueberry: Pheno Hunting The World's Best Featuring DJ Short, Dutch Passion, Sagarmatha & Barney's Farm

What's up 420forums? I will be journaling my quest for the world's best blueberry weed.

After DJ Short bred Blueberry, he contracted the strain to both Dutch Passion and Sagarmatha seeds. Both companies took his cutting, and put it through their own breeding program to make it commercially viable, however they left DJ out of the breeding process. I am hoping that working with DJ's original IBL of Blueberry, currently on the F5 generation, and crossing it with the best version of "3rd party" Blueberry, I will be able to create the ultimate Blueberry hybrid.

I have the following seeds germinating currently:
12x DJ Short Blueberry F5
4x DJ Short Flo F5
5x Sagarmatha Blueberry Bud Fem
5x Dutch Passion Blueberry Fem
2x Barney's Farm Blueberry OG

The goal of this project will be to use the best DJ Short Blueberry F5 male to pollinate the best overall female I get from this run. I will then pop those seeds, hunt the best female again and once more cross it with the DJ Short Blueberry F5 male, resulting in my own blueberry strain that I have temporarily dubbed "Squidward".

I will be growing these under the one and only @Budget LED lights. I look forward to this run and seeing the finished product some time next year!

I thought the original version of the DJ Short / Dutch Passion Blue Velvet ((Oaxaca Gold x Chocolate Thai) x Afghani) was okay, for a 50:50 hybrid. Apparently, not all that many people agreed with me, because Dutch Passion discontinued the strain.

thank you. im sure it was a great strain. maybe it wouldve stuck around longer if it didnt sound like it was named after a 70s porn star. sounds like it came from some great genetics. also much like porn stars. maybe now i see why they named it that.

We had a fantastic original Blueberry mama around here for years. I popped 5 seeds the year after it won the CC. The best pheno was super. 6 pounds outdoors, of gooy purple bud, 5 foot high, 10 feet wide and covered with donkey dicks. It looked like a Mugo Pine on steroids. It may still be alive in the Billings area, near, is it 20 years or so? Good luck

I came oh so close to losing it recently. Thank goodness for the first and only sucessful reveg of my growing life

the biggest differentiating characteristic of my blueberry, compared to every other plant i grow,, cept for one brand new one but it don't count, the plant is so stubby,,

any one elses stubby?

I’m gonna join in for the show if you don’t mind. I love blueberry.. I can’t say I’ve grown a blueberry strain I didn’t like. There is a cut that is sun grown around here that tastes sublime.. strong too! Makes your eyes blood shot red and your eye lids to heavy to keep up lol. Hope all is blessed my friend!

i might have to pull a reveg or two on a few phenos i found and didnt get a chance to clone on this current run. im happy to be carrying the blueberry torch. i hope i get some stubby ones cause ive got a lot of space with low ceilings just waiting to be SOGged

I know seedlings are boring but I tried to be artistic about it..

Here are the germination stats:

DJ Short Blueberry F5 - 10/12
DJ Short Flo F5 - 2/4
Dutch Passion Blueberry - 4/5
Sagarmatha Blueberry Bud - 4/5
Barney's Farm Blueberry OG - 2/2

There is one seedling of each variety lagging a bit behind, but seemingly okay. Next weekend I will put them into 1/2 gallon containers and transfer them into my veg tent for two weeks or so.

hey hey i actually had to put this grow on pause for an auto run i was in the middle of.. the plants have been vegged 3 months now and i just flipped them yesterday. updates to come!

Alright guys so here is the deal - I ended up getting a terrible infection in my intestines in January that by February had me hospitalized. The garden was abandoned for a while and almost everything died. Luckily, the various blueberries have some real great plants that stuck around.

I had intended to run autos quickly while I nursed the plants back to health, but because of cold temperatures, the autos all took 100+ days, crazy! So now these girls have been vegging something like 4 months, although some of that time was spent nearly dying, and then recovering. At least the ones that survived are strong and hardy.

So here is what I am left with female wise..

1 BBOG (Barney's Farm)
3 Dutch Passion Blueberry
2 DJ Short Blueberry F5
2 Sagarmatha Blueberry Bud

I also have 17 DJ Short Blueberry F5 seeds hanging around for shenanigans after this run if need be. I flipped these girls on 05/03. T minus 9 weeks til party time.

The full room of 33 autos that are taking their damn time. Also some veg action surrounding it, OG Kush (Humboldt), G13 Skunk (Mr. Nice), and of course the berry gang.

We're gonna have a real shit show on our hands boys and girls. Some of them are 48" tall already and just got flipped. Time to hit the ceiling.

I took 2 clones of each plant. Already showing roots on day 12
