If you want big autos though the key is hydro and shit loads of light. Any hydro method will do. If doing Coco in pots use a drip feed to drench them a few times a day. Need to be a Jedi to get em big in soil, or by handwatering in Coco but it's easy in full hydro methods.
I use NFT and it'll turn anything on the larger side into a pounder. Auto pots are an easier to use alternative though. Seen plenty 800g autos grown in those and you don't need to piss about keeping the Res stable.
