Border Patrol Makes $1.5 Million Pot Bust

Border Patrol agents have seized nearly 2,000 pounds of marijuana, in a bust valued at more than $1.5 million.

Monday, agents from the Casa Grande station observed a suspicious vehicle driving off-road in the west desert.

When agents approached the vehicle, it had been abandoned. They found 127 bundles of marijuana inside.

The marijuana was seized and taken to the Casa Grande station for processing. The smugglers were not located.

From Oct. 1, 2009, to August 31, 2010, the Tucson Sector Border Patrol seized more than 943,000 pounds of marijuana valued in excess of $754 million.
