I understand that it is just an estimate.

Yes, that is the answer I have been looking for, I will start flush when pistils are 50 -70 % brown. Thanks.

I would probably prefer a mixture of both types of high to be honest.

Should the trichomes be completely cloudy milky with some starting to turn amber ?

I'm currently feeding her old timers organic bloom. Says 2-4 ml per 1 litre of water.

I'm giving her 2 litres with 4 ml of Nutes and watering about every 5 to 7 days or so, I check soil and pot weight, I put my fingers down the side about an inch and if it's dry I will water her slowly and see how fast she drinks it, I try to achieve about 10% run off, which I normally get with 2 litres.

Given that she is mostly sativa I should harvest when the trichomes are 60% clear and 40% milky. Or 50/50 for both cerebral and body stone. Is that Right?

So once the pistils are 50% brown I will start flushing.

And once I start Flushing I should keep checking the trichomes on the buds for a 50 50 clear to milky variant.

Would that be Right?

LOL it is not that simple, inside the Trichome is THC which is what gives you the heady high. When it is milky white the THC inside the Trichome is at its peak, once it peaks, it starts deteriorating into THC-C a different type of canabanode. If you want the peak of heady ideally you are looking for about 5 to 10% amber which gets the maximum amount of Trichomes to the milky white state which is the peak of heady high. If you go 50% milky 50% clear your are going to end up with weak smoke that is low in THC
The stoney high comes from the AMBER trichomes, so while 10% seems high it really isn't because 90% will be either completely milky or really close to completely milky.

I've been giving her 6.0 throughout and when I first checked the run off ph a week ago it was 5.5 so, yeah wow, thanks again man, I will definitely change my ph to 6.5 and check the run off to see if it's closer to 6.

I've already learnt some good advice from you o.g. respect man and thanks again.

When your Pistils are between 60 to 70% brown you will be about ready to flush, that is when you need to check your trichomes daily if not a few times per day. If you are worried you will miss the timing, start checking your trichomes daily when the pistils are at 50% . This will give you some experience looking at them and getting them into focus. You will need either a jewelers loupe or a pocket micro-scope to check the trichomes, unless you have a really nice macro camera. I know G00ch told me on my thread of a APP you can get for your cell phone that takes killer pictures of the trichomes, only problem is the APP does not work on IPhones and thats what I have.

I like that you use the lift method for watering, though may I offer you this tip. Keep doing that but before you actually water, take a few minutes and examine your plant closely. Reach in and feel how limp the stems on the fan leaves are, look for which leaves are drooping and which are still fairly perky. Make a mental note of everything you discovered. Now water and wait 1 1/2 hours. Come back and do the exact same examination. Check the stems of the fan leaves, look at the leaves that were drooping before that are no longer drooping. That is your plant talking to you. Once you learn her langue it will be much easier to grow them, you will be able to see when they are thirsty by just looking at them. I would still suggest you use the lift method until you are completely comfortable being able to interrupt what she is telling you.

Sweet thanks alot, I will remember that. I have a cheap 30x jewelers scope lense that I will order on Saturday along with a new 4x4 tent for her because she is already too big for the tent she's in due to my lack of good planning.

Live and learn. :)

Can't wait to start checking those trichomes. Getting anxious just thinking about it. Hehe

Interesting, I will research this further because in Jorge Cervantes grow bible it says "resin gland development will be in on of 3 stages- clear or translucent, milky white and amber.

Harvest when the majority of glands are clear and a few glands have started to turn milky white.

Harvesting plants too early, before a few of the glands turn milky, will make them less psychoactive, because they hold less thc.

Harvesting at this point will yield a cerebral, soaring, heady stone. The body will be less affected. Pure sativa and sativa dominant strains are perfect for this harvest"

So, firstly I will say that I find jorges description to be complex as few is a loose word, but what he is saying is harvest when it's mostly clear with a few milky white if it's a sativa or sativa dominant strain.

So is he saying 75% clear trichomes and 25% milky White?

Reading that and with what o.g said I am slightly confused what is optimal trichome colour for a sativa harvest.

?!?

It then goes on to say, " harvest when 50% of trichomes have turned a creamy translucent colour for peak Ripeness.
At this point the high will be both cerebral and physical with a good head and body stone.

Harvest when the majority of trichomes have turned amber for a body stone. Pure indica or indica dominant strains harvested at this late point will possess a heavy body couch lock stone.

Waiting to harvest sativa strains until this stage will not take advantage of the strains. Such strains are best harvested when resin glands are clear to milky coloured"

That's what is says in the book so should I not harvest at 50% milky white and 50% Clear?

Do you think 90% milky would be a better high. Or if I chop as soon as I see amber.

My plant is 65% sativa.

Great advice, I have sort of noticed that after I water the leaves feel thicker and not as dry, and when I feel she needs water the leaves feel very dry. I will definitely do what you say to try to get a better idea about her needs.

Ok so after doing some more reading online I think when the trichomes are mostly milky white with a few amber would be best time to harvest,

I guess it's trial and error but I certainly don't want to chop her too early and lose out on potency and yield. So I think when the trichomes are mostly milky and when I can see some amber I will chop her and then slow dry for a week and then cure for another week.

I'll post new pics soon.

Still atleast 40 days until they 'might' be ready.
Can't wait.
Anyone ever had Holy Grail 69 from samsara Seeds?

All photos taken on 10 .12 .15. ......22 days of flower. Another 38 - 48 days left of flower, she is now starting to produce lost of nice frosty trichomes on top, although probably can't tell by the pictures, also on one of the bud sites some pistils are starting to darken.

I measured her at 2 ft tall from medium and I'm pretty sure she has stopped stretching so I'm hoping for her to finish in another 7 weeks or less. Can't see her stretching any more although she might.

She is also about 2 ft wide, I will definitely doing a staggered Harvest, chopping the main cola and then lowering the light and giving the rest another week or so the fatten up.

I'll post next pictures in 1 week.

Honestly I think I'll get over two oz doing a staggered Harvest, only time will tell.

I'll be happy with 1 oz of highly potent sativa dominant weed, but anything of 2 I will be made up with.

Comments very welcome, good or bad.

Hope all is well in your world.

Is this grow still alive?

We would love to be updated with some pictures and info.

How about posting a 420 Strain Review?

If you need any help with posting photos, please read our Photo Gallery Tutorial.

I am moving this to Abandoned Journals until we get updates.

Sending you lots of love and positive energy.
