Today we honor the brave military men and women who put their lives at stake for the freedom of our country.
At the very least, our veterans could use a free bag of weed. Which is why San Francisco's Bloom Room Collective is offering all past and present servicemen and women a free 1/8th of medical marijuana in celebration of Veterans Day.
"The Veterans Day Giveaway really serves a dual purpose. We are giving back to our vets and at the same time, raising awareness about the benefits that medical cannabis can offer our vets," says Bloom Room manager Stephen Rechif.
Medical marijuana is known to provide immense relief to vets with severe symptoms of post-traumatic stress, as well as other disorders including inflammation, nausea, insomnia, and depression.
"For vets who are having night tremors or re-living their time at war during the time they need to be calmly sleeping, you can quickly see how this medicine could be a god-send," says Rechif.
While an 1/8th of high-quality cannabis is good for most, Rechif would also like to invite veterans to the new phenomenon of vaporizing marijuana concentrates, otherwise known as dabbing.
"Many of the veterans we serve have been using cannabis for a long time and have been prescribed a plethora of pharmaceuticals so they have built up a strong tolerance to medicine," explains Rechif. "Dabs are a quick way to get a strong dose of medical cannabis without a great deal of smoke — it's technically vaporizing. For vets that are just starting and trying to replace pharmaceuticals with medical cannabis, I would suggest something mellow to start off like a 1:1 CBD to THC tincture."
