Art, music, food, fireworks and more family fun will come together at the Desert Hot Springs Fall Festival Saturday, Oct. 1.

The family-friendly event will feature a plethora of events for kids, including carnival rides, pony rides, a petting zoo and face painting. Kids will also be able to climb inside real police cars and fire trucks, as well as meet Smokey Bear and McGruff the Crime Dog.

There will be plenty of events for adults to enjoy as well, including an art gallery featuring works from 25 artists, three different live music acts playing country, rock and indie and food trucks with barbecue from Bruce's Coyote Kitchen and desserts from The Jolly Polly.

A fireworks show put on by Pyro Spectaculars by Souza will cap off the event at 9:30 p.m.

Police officers, firefighters and their families can enjoy the event completely free on a hospitality patio.

The fall festival is being funded entirely through private donations, with a large portion of the money coming from the Desert Hot Springs Cannabis Alliance Network.

"A big shout out goes to all the businesses that helped make this event possible and especially Cannabis Alliance Network who stepped up with a real show of community support," Council member Russell Betts, who has spearheaded the festival organization efforts, said in a release. "It is actually a greatly expanded event with their help."

DHSCAN President Jason Elsasser said members of the group, which is comprised of those involved in the medical marijuana industry in the city, jumped at the chance to sponsor the event and contribute to the community.

"DHSCAN is very happy to support what is looking to be a big Desert Hot Springs fun family event and looks forward to this being one of many great events ahead."

The festival will run from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday at the corner of Mission Lakes Boulevard and Little Morongo Road in Desert Hot Springs. Those seeking more information about the event can call Betts at 760-333-1374.
