Can any physician prescribe?

I'm just wondering if any physician can prescribe MJ (in CA) or do I have to go to a specialist? I have an appt with my family practice doc and I am unsure if I should ask him about it....or if I should just go somewhere else...?

Doctor's in Cali are the same. But just like Dank said, most don't want to. There's too much stigma about medical marijuana for most doctors to want to give out recs, since it is seen by many mainstream doctors to be a taboo subject. Too many doctors are scared of the repercussions in the medical community.

For example, I talked to my neurologist about my experience with marijuana, and the research I had done about Epilepsy and Marijuana. All I got was a funny smirk, and nothing else was said.

Now research says it calms the brain. To be honest, I am trying to work a job now, and taking four pharmaceuticals is making it extremely difficult to accomplish even the smallest of tasks. Today, I cut my hand, fell down hard, and smashed my finger in a door. I don't think I would be doing these things if I only smoked marijuana. If nothing else, I would be twice as careful.

Hopefully, one day, things will change. Medical Marijuana does work!!!!!

Peace and happiness

Article 2.5. Medical Marijuana Program State of California

11362.7. For purposes of this article, the following definitions shall apply:

(a) "Attending physician" means an individual who possesses a license in good standing to practice medicine or osteopathy issued by the Medical Board of California or the Osteopathic Medical Board of California and who has taken responsibility for an aspect of the medical care, treatment, diagnosis, counseling, or referral of a patient and who has conducted a medical examination of that patient before recording in the patient's medical record the physician's assessment of whether the patient has a serious medical condition and whether the medical use of marijuana is appropriate.

And there you go! :peace: :cheesygrinsmiley:

If your doc won't do it, there are plenty that will.
