Can anyone please tell me what this wierd growth is?

This growth is on one of the lower branches, I have no Idea what it could be.

I'm not sure, but if it were me... I would cut that entire limb off, bag it and burn it. Looks like something I would not want to spread to other plants or other limbs of THAT plant even. I would keep a close eye out for more of them to pop up as well. Have never seen anything like that on mine, ever,...

I went and chopped the limb off and dissected the lump, it was part of the plant, how weird!
