Canadian MMJ Question

Hello,

I have finally decided to try and obtain authorization for the use of marijuana for medical purposes in Canada, and get off all the horrible pills I have to take everyday. I have a quick question for any current Canadian medical patients: did you speak with Heath Canada for yourself, or did you appoint a representative to speak on your behalf? I'm just wondering which would be the wiser to do. Thanks a lot!

In Canada, it's ALOT harder to get medical marijuana.. You must suffer from one of the following:




Medical Condition Symptom

Multiple Sclerosis;
Spinal Cord Injury; or
Spinal Cord Disease
Severe pain, persistent muscle spasms

Cancer; or
AIDS, HIV Infection
Severe pain, cachexia, anorexia, weight loss, severe nausea

Severe Arthritis
Severe pain

Epilepsy
Seizures

OR
Applicants who suffer from a symptom treated within the context of providing compassionate end of life care


OR
Applicants who suffer from symptoms of a medical condition other than those mentionned. An assessment of your case by a specialist is required, if your medical practitioner is not already a specialist.

Usually in this last case, your medical practitioner must prove that you have every possible medecine available on the market and that they did not do the job...

It's pretty ridiculous that Canadians have a harder time obtaining medical status, considering how lax the government is about enforcing marijuana laws.

I have a member of my family who is chronically ill. They give him a few more years at tops. He lives in severe pain everyday, to the point where he can't even get out of bed sometimes. And yet he was turned down for medical marijuana.

Yeah, it's unbelievable how hard it is here. That being said, if i'm caught with under a half oz, the cops would MAYBE give me a ticket, tops. They'd probably just take away my weed, or even just give me a warning and send me on my way. I think that kind of makes up for it, although California is pretty much the same in some places I've heard. Still, no offense, but I really don't want to live anywhere in the United States right now, even beautiful California.

What symptoms do you need to be qualifying for medical marijuana in Cali?

My specific illnesses are covered under medical marijuana, but I won't go into detail about that. I spoke to my psychiatrist about it and brought the Medical Practitioner form for her to sign, but she doesn't have the authorization to do so. Now I have to travel to Toronto to see a specialist, and this is basically my last hope.

My uncle suffers quite similarly and is still struggling with getting his authorization. Hearing that worries me. I hope he manages to get it.

I missed this comment. That's the one thing I still love about this area: if you have less than a half ounce they won't do anything; half the time they don't even take it away.

I have given up trying to get my authorization for now. It was somewhat unrealistic to think I had a chance anyways.

But I've quit all of my medication and am just using marijuana unofficially medically, and I've been perfectly balanced out ever since. I just give myself a daily dose of a gram therapeutically, and the rest is recreational.
