Cannabis 1's First Hydro & Soil Grow

I just finished trimming for the night. I still have 20% of the plant left. I'll try and get more pics up later today. I'm beat! I'm buying a trimmer for the popcorn next harvest

Are you trimming alone?? or is the wife helping? goes much faster when theres more hands trimming.. Radogast probably was done trimming his plants in like Mach 100! wife and kid(s) helping trim! Lady GreenThumb and myself took a decent amount of time trimming our plants cause we goofed around and were really stoned haha, so i know just how exhausting it can be trimming these ladies.

Hey... next time theres not going to be much popcorn, if any at all.. Only huge THC bomb colas!! No spending money on trimmers!! be a man, use your hand!

I'm trimming alone. It's a lot of work. I wish I had a little help. I'm going to hand trim whenever I can, but I am going to get a small hand power one. I'll show ya.

Heck yea!! Just monster buds with the THC Bomb!!

Didn't you say you were going to dry them in the drying rack i see in the corner of the picture.. now you're hang drying?:goodjob:

(cough cough... bag appeal :;):) I think its a great idea to do this, unless you have the time to come and toss the buds around so they dont compress on one side cause of the wet weight while drying in the rack.

Wait a minute... do i see buds.. on stems.. in the drying racks? get some MOAR string up damnit! hang those babies! Otherwise make sure you are moving them around frequently to avoid depressions in the buds making them look funny and dry unevenly.

Werent we PM'ing each other something about bag appeal and the importance of that sort of thing? i duno, just something to think about when drying your plant! Read how The Cap'n harvests and trims (if you haven't already!!) or even how Kushington Farms hangs his full, untrimmed plants for like 5 days before pulling leaves off then trimming and putting into jars.

By the way..... THAT COLA!!! on the right side of picture... hot diggity damn!

:yummy:

Thanks guys! Yea Gt. I am hanging the big colas on some string and the popcorn goes on the rack. The buds you see in the rack with stems I havent gotten to trim yet. And yes I am shuffling the buds to make an even dry. I was always going to dry this way.

Yea she's a big cola!!

Thanks guys! It was alot of fun for my first grow. I couldn't have had such a great success if it wasn't for all of you, so thanks a million guys!!

I finally finished trimming all the pop corn last night. So I trimmed for 10 hours Sunday, 6 Monday and 6 Tuesday for a total of 22 hours of trimming!!! Never again will the popcorn be hand trimmed. Right after I finished last night, I shuffled the popcon around and some of it is actually ready to go. So now I guess I need to keep an eye on the others. They should be ready tonight!

I know I keep saying it, but I will get some pics up later!

Hey, next time there wont be no popcorn buds! We will be taking those off the plant, and focusing on the huge colas!

I've used trimmers before, and while they do work, they degrade the quality of your product because the cutting wire underneath the grate the leaves go through, is just a wire, not a blade, so its a blunt edge cutting the leaves, thus they turn brown an shit rather than staying green and tasty looking. Plus i think that they knock off some of the trichomes as the wire spins rather than those trichomes being on your scissors or gloves to later rip in a bong!

I also cook for a living and the same goes for cutting any sort of green vegetable or herb. The more dull the blade, the more brown and damaged the cut edges look. Sharper blade means it cuts rather than tears, leaving you a better looking final product.

So if you want a good looking final product, i would stay away from the trimmers. Just my 2 bits!!

Just get some help next time you trim!! Maybe we space our harvest for THC bomb like a week or so apart and we fly to eachother respective home towns and help the other trim!! hahah

HAHAHA, We should buy the tickets now while they are cheap!!! I would love to come up to BC! Im sure you would love it on the East Coast. Maybe we should plan some trips.....

I get what your saying about the trimmers. They save time, but degrade the product. So Im calling my small buds popcorn which would be a "B" grade bud. But since I hand trimmed EVERY nug, I would consider them all "A" grade.

I gotta tell ya. One man working in the garden is great, but I need an extra pair of hands every once in a while. I gotta go get a new GF. Then put her to work!!!!

So I guess this journal is finished. The last thing to do is give you guys a total weight. I should have that in a few days and Ill let ya know!

Mine and GT's THC Bomb grow will get started in October. In the meantime, I will start a new journal in a few days and show step by step how I will build my RDWC.

***SIDE NOTE***

Make sure you guys get over to the 420 contest and vote for POTM, NOTM and MOTM. :thanks:

Thanks Toker!! I sure learned a lot. Im stoked that my hard work payed off! I actually smoked a small nug last night. It was the smoothest bud I have ever smoked. It has a real Fruity taste. And the High, was the most intense I have ever experienced. My whole body was tingling, and its got little creeper action too.

I fell asleep in minutes last night! Which is great b/c I usually have insomnia.........

Hey guys. I'm in the tent now doing a rough total.
Not including the popcorn it looks like I'm around 17 oz. Or 475 grams. That is including the stems, so let's say 14 oz.

It's premature but god dam!!!! A 1 LB plant with some killer smells!!
