Cannabutter using resin?

Hi there, I'm not actually a huge smoker, gave up cigarettes a few years ago and the hash went with it. :-( I still miss it and have thought of making some brownies. I've looked at a few recipes and they list approx 1lb of butter to 1 oz of cannabis, that's all well and good but I need just under 1/2 lb of butter so that would mean half a oz of cannabis, in the UK and for skunk that would cost about £80-£100 ($160-$200). For a batch of brownies? Does this seem right?

This is the recipe I found:
Cannabutter in 7 easy steps

And the main thing I wanted to ask is can I use resin in the butter melting process, will it have the same effect? When I say resin, I mean the solid version that you have to burn and fluff into your joint? Sorry, NooB :)

Any help will be most appreciated!

Cool, what about the quantities? I'm gonna be using about a 1/4oz of hash in about 185g (0.4lb) of butter. does this sound acceptable? Is it enough? Bear in mind I don't smoke really now anymore.
