so im starting to get things ready for my grow, now how much should i put aside to get set-up( lights etc) im gonna grow like 1-2 plants at first so how much should i start putting away for my utensils and for all the stuff ill need like fert etc.

thanks for the help, trying to make sure ill have enough dough that isnt tied to my day to day cash

Dends on how serious you are. For lights, dirt, nutes, ferts....pretty much everything youll need $400 should cover it EASILY! (depending on lights)

spent about 500 electronic ballast for MH&HPS w/ bulbs and hood mylar foxfarm nutes ph meter coco coir

scavenged most every thing else

I didn't go huge for my first grow. Heres what I have:
140$ - a brand new 400w HPS/Ballast/Reflective Hood set
10$ - soil (used cheap soil, next time I'll get a better medium)
0$ - some room fans I had laying around,
20$ - electrical (power surger,digita lightl timer,thermometer,water gage,etc)

Thats only $170 and although only 1 plant made it (other was a male) i've got a decent little plant going with this minimal setup

if a buddy was starting a grow i'd tell them to go digital ballast either/or halioe and hi press sodium fan cooled hood ventilation and soil first time through
then after a grow or two switch to hydro or aeroponics....

well they're going to be using the halide or hps fan cooled hood ventilation and all that even in hydro or aeroponics


but yeah, it's generally a good idea to go soil, then hydro.
