I have a 450w 2700k cfl its just over 1ft in size I have 3 plants that are kind of short in flower.. how close shall I get them ? There roughly 8-10inches

Please upload a pic, sounds like you can raise plants or lower the lights, whichever is easiest.

havnt got a picture of my set up as im away from home at the moment but here is a picture of the light....

That's a big CFL. Id use the back of your hand method to find a safe distance. Those are most effective if you hang them horizontally. Good luck

I dont think its a true 450w as iv looked everywhere and even though mine is a 340 they can apparently only go up to 300w without a ballast type box.
You can use them around 2-3" away from them, keep a small exchanging the area around the bulb though bud.
These are a good bulb if you can get the right colour for the stage your in, i yielded over 50g on my first 3 plants with one of these, that was untrained too!
