MUSCATINE, Iowa –A Muscatine chiropractor is facing felony charges for allegedly harvesting cannabis plants at his residence and his rural hunting grounds near Illinois City, Ill.

The Quad-City Metropolitan Enforcement Group arrested Gregory K. Haines, 46, on felony charges in Rock Island County Circuit Court for unlawful possession and production of cannabis plants and unlawful possession with intent to manufacture cannabis.

According to a MEG press release, agents found the plants and growing equipment at his Muscatine residence and the Illinois City property.

Chris Endress, MEG director, said Haines allegedly harvested 10 large plants on the Illinois City property. He allegedly started growing the plants at his residence and when they reached a certain size he moved them to the hunting grounds, Endress explained.

Endress said it's possible Iowa authorities will be filing more criminal charges against Haines.

Authorities started investigating after receiving an anonymous tip and interviewing Haines. According to the news release, he gave agents permission to search his Muscatine office and the Illinois City property.

One of the Rock Island County felony charges carries up to seven years in prison if convicted and a fine of up to $100,000.

He was in the Muscatine County Jail this morning. His bail amount was not immediately available
