Chrisx510’s Happy Father’s Day Grow: Sweet Zombie & Extras

So now that I’ve got a whole whopping 1 grow under my belt. Kinda seen where I was lacking on my first grow trying to learn from my mistakes. Growing in a 6 by 4 grow area I made in my garage with reflective insulation board. Put together, what I would say, is a pretty darn good soil for my indoor grow.

The soil recipe I’m going with this time around is
2:blushsmile:1 with FFOF/Big Roots, perlite, and Malibu compost/heritage organic earth worm castings
0EEF48F6-6D8A-4F1B-8AF0-22E76AB9FAAD.jpeg

For my soil in my final pot transplant my amendments are per 10 gallons of soil I added 1/2 a cup of each
Kelp meal
Alfalfa meal
Shrimp meal
Neem Seed meal
Oyster Shell
Langbeinite (2 TBS)
Azomite (1/4 cup)
Glacial Rock Dust (1/4 cup)
Mykos (2 TBS)
Azos (1 TBS)
Watered with my brew of compost tea (1 TBS black strap, 15ml URB, 1 cup Bu’s Blend, 1 cup earthworm castings per gallon)

0DAD381A-4DD5-4D27-99AC-8A9E2BD434D9.jpeg

My seedlings/early veg soil is Big Roots with
Pride Lands 1 TBS
Kelp Meal 1 TBS
One shot 1 TBS
Per gallon

This time around I’m doing three auto flowers and two photoperiods.

Autos are
Purple Lemonade by FastBuds
(70% Indica)
Gorilla Girl XL by sweet seeds
(Mostly Sativa)
Silver Haze By unknown (thanks to MSNL)
(Unknown)
Photos are
Sweet Zombie by Expert Seeds
(90% Indica)
Holy Punch by Green House
(70% Indica)

I originally was trying to do Seedsman Gelta.OG instead of the holy punch. But 0 out of 3 ended up germinating. Can’t complain to much because they were the free seeds I was wanting to try them out, but definitely not going to be buying those seeds anytime soon with that germination rate.

Picked the five because their flower time is all about the same time frame of 7-9 weeks. I started the photo periods about 2.5 weeks earlier than the autos. At least the Sweet zombie did, due to the failure of Gelat.OG had to switch to the backup seeds a little bit late.

Any suggestions on anything please feel free to toss them out. How do you like the soil recipe?
I don’t mind if you post your own pictures or links to your own grow logs. After all we are all here to learn from each other and log our own grows.

Now as for the the happy Father’s Day portion of this grow. Happily got this little guy for Father’s Day

With this and my 600w hid I had from my last grow, should be able to fill out the little grow room I made pretty easily.

Now time for that plant porn.
I have the two photoperiod girls under a 120 CFL bulb about 6” above the top of the sweet zombie in a little grow cupboard ran on a 24 hour light cycle.

Sweet Zombie at about 2.5 weeks, love how insanely tight her nodes are.

Off to a great start!
Everything looks peachy so far. I was just reading about gorilla glue earlier today. It has the chem and the diesel behind it if I’m not mistaken? IDK about the xl version.
Bring on the meds!

I think the XL came from the ruderalis portion of the sweet gelato auto genetics, but I’m not sure on that one. And thanks man

Now time for the grow update. Did I pretty hard dry cycle this time around on the sweet zombie. Trying to get those roots longer so I can transplant sooner.

But now I’m thinking her pot is getting to small for her. Her lower leaves are starting to turn yellow.

What do you guys think, what pot should I transplant her into? I’ve got a 1 gallon fabric, 5 gallon fabric, and a 7 gallon tall plastic pot.

The blank one is the youngest of the bunch that’s the holy punch.

So I ended up getting some yellowing in my lower leaves. Gave her some nitrogen with a little calmag the other day no affect just yet. Started a compost tea yesterday with 2 TBS black strap, URB, fish emulsion, kelp, alfalfa, compost, and earthworm castings. Foliar sprayed with the tea today and going to water her with it tomorrow and foliar spray again with it.

The sweet zombie has takin the topping very well. She split off to her two main colas very well! Finally turned the light to full, it’s roughly 24-26” above all plants. The auto’s are coming in very well they’re at their third node now.

I did a little run off test yesterday when I was watering them on the sweet zombie. Incoming PH 6.57 with 57 ppm, out coming was 6.12 with nearly 3000 ppm. Next three watering cycles will be straight PH’d water, but going to run off test each time till that comes down a bit. Also did a nutrient test on the run off with those little capsules. Got high N, high P, and medium to low K at least the balance sounds pretty good.

I think one of the auto flowers might have a calcium deficiency let me know what you guys think and if I should add some calmag or not and just wait and see what happens.

Sweet zombie about 3.5 weeks old new growth color is pretty bright

@DonkeyDick It was actually @VanIslandConnoisseur that helped me realize the kinda simple way to test and realize what else might’ve been going on.

-Day 30 update
it’s been 30 days for sweet zombie now she’s on her 8th and 9th node after I topped her at her fifth node. Her speed of growth is kicking back in now, it should be pretty smooth sailing for her for a while now. The GGXL leaves are starting to get little holes in the spots, but it’s only on the second and third nodes right now and still hasn’t spread, I only clipped the one that looked the worst of the two and left the other (I don’t want this type of girl bald down there). Waiting for some more growth before I finish trimming that last node I think I should be good, because it’s not spreading at all. Other than that the rest of the plants are doing fine.

Nice buddy lookin good!

So started doing some pretty hard LST on my topped ends might end up toping the sweet zombie again. I personally think she’s coming in pretty nicely. Let’s see how the LST ends up and if the other bud sites start catching up. Tied the others up right they started growing all wonky. I really want the purple lemonade to end out really good, I think she can be an amazingly beautiful flower. Yesterday was also water day, I gave all of them just straight PH‘d water at 6.68 with 22 ppm and flushed out 600 ppm from sweet zombie. Figured I’d do it slowly to get her number down didn’t want to drop all the much in one watering, and maybe she’ll help her self get that number down a bit more. Holy punch is starting to drink more and more, going to water every other day after today.

Sweet zombie after LST, and the under aged Holy Punch

Thanks brother! So water day was yesterday, definitely can’t go three days anymore on these girls. They were so sad yesterday, have to stick to every two days now. But my PH in was 6.65 and ppm was 23, out was a perfect 6.6 with 2100 ppm. Definitely going good now, not going to worry about the PPM for a few weeks

Transplanted and LST’d down sweet zombie a bit more yesterday, in my take on coots soil with a half a inch of perlite on the bottom. And LST’d down purple lemonade a bit, she’s already showing some pre-flowering... I hope she starts stretching a bit more here soon. All plants got a pretty heavy watering, Holy Punch is a bit on the lighter side than I would like, but other than that they’re all going pretty good. The pictures were taken this morning, the girls were looking a bit sad.

CC’s soil is a bit high in PPM, but ph coming out is a perfect 6.6. But that is water running through 7 gallons of soil after transplanting from a 1 gallon pot. Going to pay close attention to her for a few days to see if I end up getting any nutrient burns/toxicity.

Nice work on the x-plants and training, Chris.
Are you using myco? I’m finding 1/8th tsp per gallon every feed keeps things ticking away in the soil for me.
That HP is really yellow, right? Me, I’d probably try and dose her up with some nitrogen either as a supplement (I have one on my shelf for this) or as EWC. The thing with the earth worm castings is the nitrogen isn’t available to the plant without a healthy microherd in your medium, hence a supplement can be more direct.
This may not be the right approach - for example if she isn’t taking nitrogen up for some reason because there is too much of something else.
A better green = more chlorophyll = more leaf vigour = better buds. Maybe not a very catchy bumper sticker.

I was thinking about giving her some fish emulsion, but class teaching started back up for me. Doing my day job and finishing teaching I’m working from 6 in the morning and getting off 8:30 at night now not getting home till 9:15 at night. All I’ve got the energy for is some quick RO watering for right now... but going to check out the HP this weekend. Sweet zombie is starting to look like she’s getting some nitrogen toxicity don’t have any pictures just seen it on my way out this morning. But the purple lemonade is already starting to put on some color pretty excited about that! I’m going to be getting a 8x4 grow tent next week, hopefully. Going to split it into two 4x4’s for a veg and a flower side. Or might just get two 4x4’s don't know just yet.

Transplant day for the HP.

Everything faking exploded in the last week. No heat waves where I live so they all enjoyed the weather

Transplanted and topped HP today she was still a bit on the yellow side but her pot was starting to dry out everyday. In the new soil I’m pretty sure she will turn right pretty quick. I set her in a little Mykos and Azos. Now for my GGXL... I don’t think she carried over the auto flowering trait, no bud sites yet but maybe in like a week or so it’ll hopefully start to flower. Purple lemonade is looking beautiful so far, her color is coming in pretty amazing so far! Canopy is coming in good for all of them, going to wait another 2 weeks or more to let HP’s roots grow throughout her new pot a bit more before flipping into flower. Plus I think my boss is going to let me buy hopefully 2 3x3 tents, but at the least one for now.

your ladies look so good. Just my thought if you want to seperate a bigger tent for veg and flower the extra money for 2 4x4 or 3x3 tents might be worth it as it will save the effort of sealing the tent in the middle
