Chrisx510’s Seed Tester Run: Irie Genetics, Soil, Seed To Cure, 2021

Heya everyone, it’s been a while since my last grow journal. But I am back now! Been on a bit of a Irie Genetics kick recently, got my hands on some Lady Marmalade, Star Struck, and Sunkiss from Rasta Jeff. I’ve got the Lady Marmalade and Star Struck going right now in one of my tents. Reached out to try and become a seed tester for him. After a while finally got the yes, and the seeds should be arriving tomorrow!

The strain currently doesn’t have a name yet and not out in the market. It depends on how the seed testing runs go if they’ll come out in the market. I don’t even know if it’s Indica, Sativa, or a hybrid just yet. If there’s more information in the package I’ll update my post, but for now it’s unknown. This journal is going to be from germination to cure, once the seeds come in. They will be in seedling/veg for about 4 weeks, before I’ll be flipping them to flower. They will be in a new tent I just got, a 4x4x80”, will be starting off in 1gallon pot, don’t know if I’ll be finishing off in 5 gallon or 7 gallon pots just yet. From start to finish they will be under a HLG 550, and under flower with a supplemental far red bulb. Humidity will be 35% with a +/- of 5% controlled by a humidifier and a AC Infinity Cloudline T4, inside my bedroom with a ambient temperature of 71-ish degrees. So my tent usually starts off at 75 degrees in veg and gets up to 88 degrees in flower with the lights on. My soil mix will be in a later post, will be starting my soil mix so it can be ready by the time flowering starts.

For sure brother thank you! I usually try to stick around .72-.82 VPD based off my leaf temps. Just don’t know much about this strain just yet, so don’t know how it’s going to react in my environment. I’ll end up adjusting my left and rights once I can start temping them.

Awesome news though, the seeds ended up coming in back on Saturday but I was out of town for Halloween. Just finished dropping them in their new temp home, got the 4x4 tent coming in should be here pretty soon! Pictures to follow!

Side note, did a haunted house at my brother in laws house… and got a girl to legitimately pee herself :laughtwo:

Sounds good! Curious about these strains!
Omg likewise! No clue what they are… this was what was in the package when they came in.

So not a clue what they are going to be! The prize wheel of mystery… skunky… funky… sweet… spicy… what is it going to be!!!

So I put them all in some FFOF, I love and hate FFOF. FFOF is a lot like pheno hunting… you never know what you’re going to get in the bag, always very inconsistent. This bag had a pretty good amount of rocks in it this time, last time it was a lot of twigs aka “Aged forest products.” FFHF is at least pretty consistent in its texture and products in the bag. Either way I like the FFOF, but prefer the happy frog for starting seeds. I also started my soil for their 5 gallon pots, will put recipe in a later post.

Dropped 10 seeds in two days ago, and dropped the 11th seed in yesterday. In a 1 gallon pot. Watered them in with a little seaweed extract, root wise mycrobe complete, and Aloe Vera. These three are almost always what I start my seeds off with. And usually takes two days for my seeds to pop out. Used to soak them in water for 24 hours before dropping them in, but I find I get a better germination rate this way.

Time to check out the family now :)

Nice start to your grow journal.

Mind if I stick around and see how things are coming along?

Stay safe, and grow well my friend,

Tok.. :bong:
Most definitely brother, don’t mind at all! And thanks for sticking around, hope you will enjoy it!

Also I don’t mind others throwing up pictures of their own grows or linking to their own journals in this thread. We all are here to learn and/or show off :D. I am a lot closer to the learning side of things.

So 11 for 11 germination, the one that was dropped in a day later than everyone wasn’t the last one to come out though. That surprised me a bit. My seedlings were a lot lighter in color than usual for me. After a day in the light their color turned green. Numbers 1-7 came out completely yesterday, 8-11 finished opening up and out this morning. Had two with their helmets still on that I took off myself.

Little up date, so the breeder said they are regular seeds, so have to look out for males. Other than that still no clue what it is, hopefully start to get some of that veg smell in. Shuffled the seedlings around a bit so they get some even light throughout.

First set of five leaflets started coming out, honestly only thing I don’t like is how light green the leafs are. Other than that they are all +/- 1/4” of each other. Pretty stable IMO. Next watering I’m going to put in recharge, mycrobe complete, liquid seaweed, aloe, and some grokashi

End of week one of veg, for me veg starts when the first set of true leaves come out. They are looking good so far, have 6 that are pretty tall and 5 that are squat. The 6 tall ones are almost 6” tall, the squat ones are about 5” tall. Humidity sitting between 70-60% RH, temps sitting between 72-75. Night temps are at about 65, and humidity sitting at 60%.

I flip my watering with plain RO, then with RO, recharge, rootwise mycrobe complete, liquid seaweed, and aloe. Every other watering with the rootwise I add a little enzymes to it. I topped dressed with a little kashi blend on Sunday.

Alright now onto what I’ve got mixed up in my soil.

For my base I’ve got

(1/3) 50/50 mix roots organic big worm, with seacoast biodynamic
(2/3) HP Pro mix
I haven’t used seacoast compost before, usually use Bu’s Blend but my hydro store stopped carrying it.

Now as for the amendments, per 17 gallon totes.
1/4 cup of kelp
1/4 cup of alfalfa
1/4 cup of Neem seed meal
1/4 cup of shrimp meal
1/8 cup of All purpose
1/8 cup of insect frass
1/8 cup of earth shine biochar
1/16 cup of langbeinite
1/8 cup of glacial rock dust
1/4 cup of Oyster shell
1/2 cup of King of Mycorrhizae

Mixed all up and laid some kashi across the top of it. Let that sit for a week and tossed it together again and put some more kashi on it again.

So wanted to point my fan directly at the plants, but directly at them was a little to strong for the plants, so I put one of my old teabags over the fan and it was working wonderfully! Check it out :)

Heck yeah brother, the more the merrier-jane! :ganjamon:

Tossed up my soil again, looks like it’s coming along. Put some more king of Mycorrhizae on top of the soil, with some kashi again. Brought my soil into my tent to get it up to temperature. Will be transplanting on Sunday.
