I hate gnats we tried two different products and nothing works and finaly we gave up when we figured out how much it would cost to give a full dose to each plant. we just keep a fan on them and let the soil dry out real good and vacuum every time to keep leaf matter down and keep the fan on high. We could have worse pest, outdoors bud worms scare the crap out of me! your garden looks great man! +reps

UPDATE:

So the Lucy and the A-Train seed have finally lost their shell and sprouting twards the light, have 4 small leaves, they are kind of stretching so i brought them closer to the light. I have to admit something, i mixed up the seeds when i was germinating i dont know which one is which, hopefully the genetics will be some what similar to ones i see in pictures and i could tell the 2 apart, from their descriptions it shouldnt be hard

EDIT: Just read this, "TH Seeds A-Train is featuring in High Times Top 10 strains of the year 2009, she is a hybrid between afghani Mazar I Sharif and the clone-only Arcata e-32 Trainwreck. Trainwreck is one of the more infamous plants. Trainwreck is a spindly plant that needs support almost immediately.". That right there leads me to believe my a-train seedling may be the one that looks like it is stretching more than the other. If not i should be able to tell the difference between them.

A friend was generous enough to donate 2 Kaya Gold sprouts to us they are about 2 weeks old really excited about that, they are feminized.

Scrog plants are still looking good, still streching but thats to be expected. We finished up the "Transition" formula of BPN 3 part elite, and we mixed up a fresh batch of "Bloom" Formula 60,40,75ml to 5 gals of aerated water.

Cleaned up all the resivoirs and refiled them today.

Veg plants are looking ok, some of them have some kind of burn or something on the tips of the leaves, i hope this is not damage from my pest . Although i think it may be. The yellow sticky tape is doing an ok job collecting the pest. I am fearing for this grow though i think its becoming infested.

so i haven't seen my plants in a few days so i don't have much to report, i suppose i could express my concerns though.


On the veg plants i am seeing some kind of burn or deterioration or something in a few of the leaves on a few plants. Not all of them have it but a few have like orange/brownish tips around the edge of the leaves, some worse than others.

Probable causes...

the soil drench i have them, maybe i gave them to strong a mix or something.

Nutrient burn possibly? i only gave them a seedling dosage of BPN 3 part elite but the soil is pretty hot nutrient wise, we are using FFOF so maybe it was to much.

Pest - is this signs of the fungus gnats eating at my roots and making the plant deteriorate?


Im a little concerned, we are going to do another soil drench this weekend hopefully and spray them down with neem oil, maybe give them more DE. If this problem persist, i may try to Transplant into new soil/containers and start 'semi' fresh.

As soon as i get over there ill have some pics up.

Oh ya in other news been spending alot of money so my equipment is kinda on hold for the time being , i still want to order my Control wizard Nutrient monitor and a 1000w plant max bulb for my new JD LIGHTING BALLAST.

Everything's kinda at a stand still, except for my scrog plants, thankfully they are in another room and are not infested with gnats. pray to god they dont get in there.

I feel like im failing you guys at a journal im just not in the best position to be monitoring my plants like you all do, but ill make it up to you with some bud porn hopefully soon!

here is some street purchased bud porn.

Not sure the strain but its defiantly some kinda Kush and i think its crossed with haze because i was pleasantly surprised on how good this tasted.

The nugs are pretty fat, they are nice and compact, loaded with tiny trichomes that are hard to see but are very close together.

When i got the bud i thought it looked pretty average, not crazy looking or anything just looked like good bud. doesn't even smell that great when its just in the jar. I didn't grind it up when i got home just packed a bong up and took a nice rip, wow it was so smooth i got a HUGE hit and didn't cough once. On the exhale it had such a HAZE undertone like i remember the first time i had haze i was like wow you can tell what this taste like, well thats what it tasted like, its almost sour, very pungent taste. The weed looks and smells average, but the taste and high are amazing. soaring head high i only took one puff off the bong and i got a nice active head high that wasn't to thought provoking very mellow and chill.

4 PPP plants that were cut from PPP mothers

Vegged for 90+ days under 4' Shop light florecents, we only started with one, then added another one, then eventually another.

So they were growing slow, When we put them under the screen we had 2 - 400w HID lights on them we vegged them for a few weeks and you could really tell the difference in the rate of growth with the HPS and the MH we used both for say 2.5 weeks before we switched the light schedule to 12/12 and ran both HPS.

We also have 2 - 23w CFL on the end of one of the plants, i have a feeling that one wont have as dense nugs, i should probably get a 27k bulb for it cause right now they are 65k

Incase yall didnt know i made a new journal for the veg tent, Check it out here if you want!

saw the babies tonight they are looking wonderful, starting to get very bushy again though, lots of leaves. I did a light pruning to each plant, in 10 days will mark our 21'st day of flowering so i intend on doing a full defoliation come that day.

Other than that plants are looking great, starting to stink , not bad but its coming for sure.

ya they are starting to fill up. But there is so many leaves i just dont want to cut to many of them off and fuck something up i am trying to wait till the 21st day of flowering but they are blocking alot of light to bud sites. Ill try to get some better pics next time . i was using shitty pre paid cell phone cam so it sucked. have a better cam though ill try to use that one next time with just cfls.

do you know why it comes with a subpump though? i dont see the need for one you just need an air pump and air stones.

thats not a bad idea, im gonna check you journal out in a mintue,

the sub pump is so the froth doesnt build up, and i assume it keeps everything cleaner because its moving the water around


This is what i read on there website ...

"but also constant cycling of the tea with the Dome Fountain Agitator which also prevents overflow of the froth."

found it for 55$ on one website, id say it easily worth the price seems like a good idea.

ill be by your journal later to check out your scrog, ill be honest i have been refraining from your journal cause i get jealous every time haha. Ill stop being a sore sport and check it out now though!

umm i remember some one telling me during my first grow that the lower the humidity during flower, the better. How every i still have my humdifier in my closet because we live in a dry climate the RH% never gets over 15% with out a humidifier.

now a days i have a Sentinel Environmental controller that has a humdistat so i can control my humidity down to a dead band of +/- 2% Right now i am running my humidity at 20% I may bring it down even more once the buds start to put weight on.

im a firm believer that certain strains of marijuana do not need 50%RH to thrive or temps between 75-77*F because my last grow temps some times went over 100*F and the plants didnt seem to mind. The RH NEVERRR got over 50% (we never ran a humidifier the average RH was like 20% the WHOLE TIME. And we got a good yield off 2 plants. Some strains are more sensitive than others. Where one plant thrives in 90*F weather, another may hermie. If it aint broke dont fix it, if your plants are doing good in the environment you are providing them with then dont change nothin!

i was also told the reason you want low RH% during flower is so the buds dont mold.

jakster you run co2? i have a 20lbs tank and have a regulator on the way. Going to run it with my Sentinel EVC-2 it has a co2 controller with a photo cell and works simultaneously with my fan so they dont run together.

When is the best time to use co2? (like during the plants life time and day or night)

Plants are looking georgous. Starting to really fill in now starting to atually form "buds" i can see very small thrichromes forming. Its approximately 16 days into flowering


Gave them a drink of pH'd water. Going to finished off the rest of the nutrient water tomorrow and make a fresh batch of BPN 3 Part Elite 'Bloom' Formula.

I plan on defoliating in 5 days. They are getting very bushy again lots of leaves every where. So i think they will enjoy the prune.

Emptied, cleaned, and sterilized the 5 gal tea brew bucket. I started brewing up 1gal worth of fresh tea brew, will feed tomorrow before watering.

I also replaced the 2- 23w 65k CFL's with 2- 42w 27k CFL's

Well i am running 500w or more of light than you are

And the BPN nutrients is like Racing Fuel for my plants.

I also been using SuperThrive and Benny Brew Tea
