DENVER – Law enforcement in the Denver metro area served numerous warrants as part of a multicounty illegal marijuana grow and distribution bust on Thursday morning, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency said.

Raids at about 20 locations began early in the morning in Arapahoe, Denver, Douglas, Elbert and El Paso counties, the DEA said.

The members are suspected of being in a run that has been growing and distributing the marijuana out of state.

Agents with the DEA are assisting with law enforcement agencies in the counties as well as the 18th Judicial District Attorney's Office.

One of the raids happened near West Eighth Avenue and Kalamath Street and are part of a monthslong investigation. Businesses and homes were raided where marijuana was being grown illegally.

Marijuana, guns and money have been seized as part of the operation.

The Lakewood Police Department said there was a raid at 5 a.m. in the 7100 block of West Colorado Drive. One person was arrested on an outstanding warrant out of Arapahoe County.
