Computer fan modification

Hey guys I'm trying to find any information on how to modify a normal PC fan so it can be plugged into a wall. I understand theyre 12 volts. Could I just use a normal cell phone charger, cut the wires and some how hook it up to the fan?
Is there somewhere on the web where there is a step by step process I can read up on?

Yes you can. Read the info on the back of the fan, and use the same voltage/wattage or as close to the wattage as possible.

And is a cell phone charger the best thing to use?

as long as it's output is 9 to 12 volts "DC" it will work. It will run slower on 9 volts. The wires will only work one way. if you hook them up and it doesn't work, reverse them.

generaly the wires will be red and black in the cell charger when it has been cut just match them up, other than that race is correct, although a few can just reverse the direction of the fan..... one way will be less powerful though. they work well this way just make sure that you dont go over the max of the fan or you will be smokin

On the fan casing will be a arrow that shows the direction air flows. If you hook up the wires and the air is flowing the wrong way, reverse them. Although in all my years of making my own equipment I've never had a PC fan run on reverse polarity.

ive only had one it was from a car stereo amp
had plenty fry ..... but than again when that happened it was ment to happen lol

thanks for the info guys what size fans do you guys use for say a 3ftx3ft and maybe 5 ft tall closet grow?
