Concrete's Mixed Grow: Soil 2018

Day 1
Temp: 80 F
Humidity: 47%

This is my first grow. I ordered 9 different feminized seeds without considering that they will grow and mature at different rates. I planted all 9 into a floating tray. My plan is to transfer all 9 into 1-gallon pots, then select 6 to transfer to 10-gallon grow bags.

Afghan Kush - Pure Indica - World of Seeds
Blueberry - Indica Dominant - GYO Seedbank
Pineapple Chunk - Indica Dominant - Barney's Farm
Critical Mass - Indica Dominant - GYO Seedbank
Skunk X Northern Lights - Indica Dominant - GYO Seedbank
LA S.A.G.E. CBD - Sativa Dominant - TH Seeds
Chocolope - Sativa Dominant - GYO Seedbank
Blue Dream - Sativa Dominant - GYO Seedbank
Amnesia Haze - Sativa Dominant - GYO Seedbank

Tent:
My tent is a 4x4 from Vivosun, but it might as well be any $120 Amazon grow tent. I lightproofed it with foil tape. My tent has a 4" fan, filter, and muffler.

Climate Control:
I have 2 x 30L dehumidifiers and I will order a portable AC unit this weekend. My room is getting dry with the heater on, so I may pick up a humidifier as well.

Water:
Los Angeles Tap Water

Medium:
E.B. Stone Ultimate Recipe soil. I also have several bottles of Fox Farm Grow Big, Tiger Bloom, and Big Bloom that I got for $3 each on clearance at Armstrong Garden Center. They are still on sale in Torrance CA.

Light:
Timber Redwood VS at 3500k. When it arrived yesterday, it had no reflectors. I emailed Dan from Timber and he explained that the Vero 29 lights no longer ship with reflectors because the reflectors cause heat buildup, they narrow the grow space, they reduce PAR by 10%. I asked Dan if he could send me reflectors anyway because like the way the reflectors look. Dan should have told me my reasoning is flawed, but he agreed to send reflectors anyway because that's the kind of guy he is.

Right now they are running full dim, just to keep the soil warm.

I am here to share and learn. Again, this is my first grow and any input is useful. I will definitely need help from the community!

Hi and welcome
You have a good set up and surely will do fine.
At this stage, you need more humidity, so close the dehumidifiers and see how much you have.
Ideal is around 55%-65%.
It is tricky to grow different strains, but you can cover the difference in height by topping later or something like this:
Or this:

Temp: 81 F
Humidity: 80%

Thank you for the tips, AngryBird. I hung some damp t-shirts in my tent to raise the humidity and my plants have germinated.

Questions:

1) Skunk X Northern Lights ("SNL") was the first to sprout, but it looks like the seed is still attached. Should I intervene?

2) My light is running at 50% (300W) about 4 feet from the canopy. Should I adjust?

3) Should I transplant into 1 gallon pots right now, or should I wait?

Day 4
Temp: 83 F
Humidity: 70%
Light: 33% power @ 24"

Of the 9 seeds, all have flourished except Blueberry. I had to peel the seed shell off Chocolope, Skunk X Northern Lights, and LA S.A.G.E. CBD. I potted the 8 seedlings into 64 oz containers yesterday. In the past 30 hours, I only gave the plants about 1.5 oz water each. I plan on watering tomorrow morning, about 8 hours from now. After reading Emmie's article about watering, I will let the roots stretch out and water sparingly over the next few days.

1.Skunk is a little duckling soooo cute :circle-of-love::circle-of-love:
Just place a water drop on it and see if you can gently flip it off with a tooth pick.. Otherwise water drop again and try..
2.lights OK for now
3. Wait a little.. Let them establish some ground first.

Skunk had the seed stuck to it, but I pried it off. You can see the damage, but I think she will heal. When I took the plugs out of the grow tray, Skunk had a 4 inch taproot sticking out the bottom. The others had a tiny taproot poking out. She is still recovering, but I think Skunk will eclipse the rest.

If you see taproot sticking out... Re plant..
Just remember to water away from stem, in a circle "outside perimeter" of plants leaves... (o_Odid you understand what I said?)

I saw the taproot as I pulled the grow plug out of the styrofoam tray and replanted into a 64 oz cup. The plants will take a while to grow out of these large cups, but when they do, I have 10 gallon grow bags ready.

Day 10 Above Ground
Temp: 75 F
Humidity: 65%
Light: 50% power @ 24"

My tent started to smell like feet, so I wiped down the ceiling, walls, and floor with bleach solution. I also rigged up an intake fan with a Shop Vac filter and cycled the air. Now my tent is practically a cleanroom. I try not to put my whole body inside the tent or breathe on the plants to avoid contaminating them.

Pineapple Chunk, Amnesia Haze, Critical Mass, and blue dream are loving life right now. The rest are somewhat smaller, and LA S.A.G.E CBD looks downright unhealthy. Ironic, considering I am watering with Los Angeles tap water. Regardless, I will only be transferring 6 to 10 gallon pots, and I really only need 4-5 plants to fill the 4x4 tent.

I have been watering very sparingly to encourage the roots to fill the pots. Once they enter veg I will water more frequently.

Day 67 above ground
Temp 62F
Humidity 60%
Light: 100% (600W) @18” @ 18/6

Here's a long overdue update for my 2 subscribers. The plants obviously need another 3 weeks or so before I flip the lights. I'm watering twice every 3 days now with 2 gallons of LA tap water. I add 1/4 cup of Fox Farms Big Bloom every other watering. I have also been trimming the low hanging shade leaves. I topped each plant once, except Critical Mass, which I topped twice. Its interesting how plants that are potted together are taking on a similar phenotype, even when one is indica and the other is sativa. You can see this between Blue Dream / Skunk Northern Lights and between LA S.A.G.E. / Afghan Kush. The height difference is becoming more apparent, with my shortest plant (Amnesia Haze) at 11" and my tallest plant (Critical Mass) at 17".
