THE police raided a marijuana plantation and recovered more than 5,000 kilos of suspected marijuana plants in Barangay Bolol Salo in Kiblawan, Davao del Sur, Thursday.

The joint operation, dubbed as "Oplan Bolol Salo," by the Davao del Sur Police Office, 1104th Provincial Mobile Group, and 1103rd Police Mobile Group was launched after an informant tipped them off regarding a marijuana plantation at the boundary of sitios Ulo Bila and Maklak in Bolol Salo.

Senior Superintendent Binang Hadjeril, director of the Davao del Sur police office, Chief Inspector Solomon de Castilla, commanding officer of the 1104th PNP Provincial Mobile Group, and Chief Inspector Benito Ricopuerto, provincial intelligence officer, led the operation that lasted for three days.

Police recovered 5,100 suspected marijuana plants worth P800,000 and three seeds of marijuana with a street value of P150.

The plantation was reportedly owned by lumads in the place.

However, no one was arrested during the raid since caretakers of the plantation left the area even before the operation was conducted.

The recovered illegal drugs are now in the custody of the police in Davao del Sur.

Meanwhile, police are conducting further investigation to identify the owners of the plantation.
