Washington State - Cowlitz County Superior Court Judge Stephen Warning has issued a stay to the Longview portion of the state marijuana license lottery, pending a hearing May 7. Liz Hallock has argued that her application for a retail marijuana license was unfairly rejected. She requested the stay Wednesday in a bid to halt the in-progress lottery. Judge Warning's stay, issued Thursday, orders the state to halt the process for the Longview portion of the lottery and the announcement of winners. Hallock lives in Clark County, but is seeking to open a retail shop called Lucky Toke in Longview. Warning on Wednesday initially rejected Hallock's request for the stay, but reversed course Thursday. Exactly how the Longview stay will affect the rest of the state lottery, which started Monday, is yet to be determined. Washington voters approved recreational marijuana in 2012; this is first retail license lottery since that vote.
