Cr8grow’s Soil Girl Scout Cookies Grow Journal, 2019

Starting my first grow and journal. Hopefully I can avoid the major rookie mistakes. 100% germination so far. Take a look and I welcome your comments, suggestions and probably help at times. Some info:
Nirvana Girl Scout Cookies Feminized. I ordered 5 Fem. seeds from Nirvana January 2019 and rapidly received 6 seeds. All 6 germinated successfully. Planted October 30th. I will transplant and grow out the 4 most vigorous seedlings.

Very nice cabinet! You can raise those plants to within a meter of the light.

Transplanting into fabric pots?
Awesome greenhouse and grow journal; I will spend more time checking it out. I have four 3 gallon plastic pots with good drainage holes prepared with soil last night to transplant the best four of six seedlings. I will pot the other two seedlings in 1/2 gallon pots as back up for a bit if I have any issues. I have the light at 4.5 meters from the seedlings. They will be raised 1 foot when transplanted tonight due to pot height. I have a couple quick questions. When can I lower the light to 24” above the plants? The first set of single serrated leaves are just starting to show some very slight yellowing and appear to be drying a bit...is this normal at two weeks?

Btw, you should always fill your pots to the rim....those are effectively "2-gallon" pots. Also, after all your hard work, consider getting some fabric pots. They last several grows and are cheap, but mainly they are excellent for root growth and ease of watering.

It's a little early for leaves to be yellowing...but then again you have been repotting and moving lighting so a lot of variables in play. The knee jerk diagnosis for the lower leaves yellowing is N deficiency, so the question is are you feeding them yet? I don't use nutrients but I have read that 3 weeks in you can begin with 1/4 strength...others may have a more specific recommendation...but overall the plants look good and I expect they will be fine.
:goodluck:

Soil is Roots Organic 707 amended with perlite, worm castings and silica. I added a half inch of really chunky perlite to the bottom of each pot. Will post update tomorrow, you can see them growing daily now.
I might be wrong but I think the ph zone you're working in is for hydro type growing. Coco and perlite. The roots sounds like soil to me. How did you come to the ph numbers you mentioned earlier? I have to go for the night but I'll be back in the am. :Rasta:

My well water is 7.8 to 8.1, I have been adjusting to target 6. I saw a nutrient uptake chart here yesterday that indicated I should be closer to 6.5 for soil. That is an easy fix for the next watering. Your thoughts?

Day 20 update. All 6 are growing well. I haven't watered since I transplanted Nov 14, pots still have heft. Light (4100k daylight) is 24” above. I can see slight yellowing at the tips...reading here could be N deficiency or burn...how do you decide whether to feed lightly or just PH’d water? It looks like I should target 6.5 for soil but also see others that say no need to adjust ever (emphasis) if growing organic in soil. The round pot pic is under CMH, the square pot pic is under fluorescent on my workbench. Seems pretty green. Pics f

Day 22 update, watered late yesterday PH 6.5, decided to not add any nutrients at this point. Looking at organic veg fertilizer options in case I need to go another 2-3 weeks to fill out scrog. Scrog will be built next week. All looks good I think, pics are under fluorescent. I hate to chop two of the six soon, but only need four. I will add unsulfered molasses next water, just need to decide between 1 tsp or 1 Tbsp per gallon. Plan to top once next week and start lst later this week.

Day 26 smell increasing. Topped all, started LST. Height 5-6”, raised light 24” above. No water. Will build scrog next week. Pulled one of the back up plants (square pot), it looked great. I added to the compost pile and checked out the roots, good root system. Temp 68-81 RH 42-33. Acoustic foam works well to reduce fan noise.
