A member of the State House of Assembly, Mr. Moro Dombraye has been commended by the Delta State Police commissioner for helping to track down a syndicate which specialises in conveying Indian Hemp with fake police escort vehicle fitted with siren for easy passage.

State Police Commissioner, Mr. Hezekiah Dimka who broke the news during a press conference in Asaba yesterday that on "29th of July at Obiaruku, mobile policemen in convoy of Hon. Dombraye of Delta State House of Assembly accosted a peugeot 504 station wagon with registration No. 'PILOT' with two men inside.

"The vehicle", according to the CP had tinted glasses with siren blaring; the Honourable member of the House and his escorts suspected the vehicle and pursued them; the driver of the vehicle (name withheld) abandonded the vehicle and fled while his accomplice (names also withheld) was arrested with 32 bags of weeds suspected to be Indian Hemp".

Both the fake Pilot vehicle and the arrested suspect were paraded at the premises of the state police command headquarters yesterday afternoon.Relevant Links

The police boss also paraded two brothers allegedly caught in robbery act.

He told reporters that the two brothers arrested along Kwale-Ogume road on the 15th of last month "confessed to the crime".

Seventeen suspected cultists were also among the harvest of arrests recoreded in recent time. They were arrested in a bush at Oleh during initiation of new members. The CP named items recovered from them as "two locally made guns, a bag containing white cloth, one box of matches and six white candles", adding that "efforts are on top gear to arrest the other fleeing members".
