Diesel Auto (Fem) + Sensi Star (Fem) + Mystery Seed (Mexican Brick Weed)

Hello folks

Hope you guys all doing great growing and smoking. After a busy summer (work), I gotta say I lost all my summer plants due to lack of care... Long story short...

But I came up with this Grow Experiment idea:
I have a Diesel Auto (fem)
Sensi Star (fem)
Mystery Seed (recovered from some brick mexican weed, hoping anything but sativa...)

I have them under Sunblaster 400 watts 6400k + 200 watts 2700k
15 ltrs pots, holes in the bottom. 2 fans. Basic closet setup.

My goal here (besides the fun of growing), is to proof whether genetics really affects the outcome. And how each strain evolves knowing they will react differently to the same conditions (watering, light, food, etc.). So the question to answer is: Growing Auto seeds is a money/time saver, but am I compromising THC levels and yield for shorter flowering time?.

I started all from seed Nov 1st and this is how they look so far.

For the first month its obvious that DieselAuto (already flowering) is growing at a faster rate than the rest, and the Mexican Mistery Seed (MMS from now on) is showing some really poor genetics at birth, lets see how it evolves...

Any suggestions are more than welcome.

Peace

For all you experts out there, I seem to have slow growers. What are the most common mistakes, that lead to a stunted plant? or is it just bad genetics…
we can review the setup to see if its me causing this problem…
thank you

Update.

1)Had a mayor humidity issue for the past days. Extreme cold has hit the city so the humidity levels in my closet got to 15%. So I had to ad a humidifier.
2)Added an extra fan to reduce heat cause buy the lights.
3)Added a gallon of yeast/sugar/water for a cheap source of CO2
4)Decided to add 2 more plants 1 Bc Mango (bcbud) and 1 Jamaican mystery seed.
5)Added 4 small cfls 23watts 5000k

Little update here, I made a quite interesting discovery today

After battling the humidity level at 10%, had to buy a humidifier and the best I can do for now is 35-42% RH average. In my tight closet space I think that would be enough for now (no budget). Bought molasses Im going to give it a try, I don't use heavy nutrients, but I see some needs I can't figure out, It could be a lack of nutrients. I try to keep the plant the most "organic" possible…

-Diesel auto is just 25cm tall (10"), its about day 45 since I started this grow and there seems to be no stretch, slight frost in leaves, new pistils are popping every day, has a nice smell to it. One detail the leaves at the very tip are turning brown "rusted" color and seem very dead to me, just the tip of the leaves. I have no clue but the color on all the leaves still is green.

-Sensi Star is just 10cm tall (4"), same 45 days, now this plant has a mind of its own. Fan leaves don't seem to care about getting fat, they are small but the plant has around 4 nodes and most shocking it started to FLOWER. You can see pistils in various areas specially the top. I don't understand why its flowering, I have a light schedule of 15on/9off so Its really interesting to see it flowering, I interpret this as the plant is "OK" and mature, the overall look is a super pack internode structure with slim to none stretch… I don't know what the outcome is going to be but it will reveal itself later on I guess.

-MexicanMisterySeed this one is about 10cm tall (4"), it has around 15 days an shows to be a tuff grower, leaves more fat so I guess has a mayor Indica dominance. Looks healthy, green and pretty strong stem. If it turns out to be a strong plant I could try for the first time to clone. Overall great condition

-Bc Mango & Jamaican seed are around 5 days old and seem to be growing with no problems. Jamaican showing a little more growth compared to Bc Mango. Overall Good conditions.

Im not happy about my lights (to much heat), I think for next year I will invest on a LED because the low heat emission these lights have.

Todo list: water tomorrow using molasses, keep an eye and watch them grow…

You should look into better soil, There's a lot of bark in your soil which makes your soil very acidic... I use TGA base soil and TGA Super soil . Both are 100% organic= The best way to grow. Hope this helps some :thumb:

Great observation northmann, and you are right because this soil is recycled from my summer grow that didn't work out. I regret not buying new soil. Will look into that TGA soils you mention, how was your experience using this soil?

thanks

:welcome: I love it plane and simple, Feel free to check out my grow journal ( link at the bottom of my post) That's what I'm using right now. Best part no need for nutes. Also I really like how you mix spectrum's, I also do that. :thumb:

Happy Joints to all! TGIF so lets burn that kush

Here's the 5 day update.

Finally I manage to keep steady environment conditions. Averaging 35%-40% RH and 28ºC. (lower 80s), watering using molasses every 3 next days on average (time the soil takes to dry 1inch below surface). Took 60 mins off my Light schedule since my last post so its running on 14/10.

-Diesel auto is entering the final weeks according to its flowering time of 70 days from seed. Im looking at 3 more weeks max before harvest… I did see the buds are still fatting up and lower buds seem to be still developing, Frostiness is taking over mayor buds. Nice fruity citrus fuel smell when touched. Some leaves seem sick, burnt or just lacking specific nutrients. Overall looks good.

-Sensi Star, this plant doesn't like something here. It is still short around 12cm (4") tall but new internodes and new bud site are just compact, one after the other. Also the plant seems to be AUTO-flowering it just keeps showing new pistils, I haven't flip 12/12. So I just decided to ride along and let it be… Overall plant looks good but its just not meant for the NBA (midget plant).

-MMS this was a seed from mexican brick weed, so my hopes of actually having something useful were slim. But the plant has responded very well, has nice leaves, green, appearance of an Indica dominant. No mayor stretch. Overall looks good and keeps on growing. Now how do I know what strain this is?

-BC Mango And Jamaican seed, these two new arrivals are doing great. On developing the 3rd set of leaves, nice green color, they don't seem to have any needs for now. Overall good

Hey Northmann

Well as far as nuts I don't really use them… I have a cheap Walmart 20-20-20 plant food fertilizer but I don't really use it for cannabis, I had it for some tomatos and some veggies I grew during summer. Probably watered twice using this fertilizer, so I don't have a feeding schedule. I use tap water that I let sit for 24hr before watering. I do think that feeding the plants makes a huge difference but I also think about the chemical elements in these fertilizer and that I will end up smoking them too…

Im gonna have to verify PH next watering.

Thanks

Have you tried Organic nutes? Its the way to go, if you are using nutes. No chemical after taste left in the buds . And make sure your PH is around 6.5, or as close as you can get. You don't want to run into a ph problem well in the flowering stage. :peace:

You got my attention northmann, Any suggestions for organic Nuts? I think its time I start using. thanks for sharing man… BTW nice plants!

Chronic weekend to you Dani :thumb:

My man Chronic weekend for you too!!!

Good Monday everyone

After 10 days from my last update, I did a lot of Defoliation on all the plants, watered twice (including today), bent stems, broken leaves, etc. I'm ready for the final week before 12/12. My current light schedule as of today is 13/11. Watering all plants every 3-4 days using sit tap water then mix with 1 tbsp of molasses.

Diesel Auto.- Final watering today, I say its about done I don't see any new pistils, over half have turned amber/brown. Today final day light, Im putting it for a dark period before harvest next week. My guess 10 grms dry. It does smell citrus amazing.

Sensi Star.- Absolutely no clue whats going-on in the plants mind. Its still growing, so I just let it be... Leaves did get pointy side up... Heat stress related perhaps. I hope it has an "attitude change" once in 12/12.

MMS.- the mexican seed is quite a fighter, I have been defoliating fan leaves in every node and it's reacting positive, Its bushy green at the bottom branches, allowing further training.

BC Mango.- Stretched a bit more than the rest, Also practice defoliation and super-crop (broke the stem, but healed in 24 hrs). Vivid green leaves.

Jamaican.- This one I like the shape its getting, Defoliation and bending was done, Biggest leaves so far, nice green color. Keepem short and bushy thats the plan.

Im researching some vitamins for the plants to use just for flowering (this is where I have most problems), I'm between General hydroponics KoolBloom(0-10-10) and Jacks Classics Blossom Booster(10-30-20).
