Distance of lights

can anyone tell me a safe distance to keep a plant a from a 250watt hps or mh bulb,


reason i ask is i need to no how tall i can grow my plants
also when u enter flowering mode does ur plant doulbe in size ?

Would depend on the heat it throws.

I hold my hand about 4-6 inches from the top of the plant and lower the light till I start to feel any heat from the light.
I run 100 - 400 wattHPS.

Yeapper, they should double.

atleast double. I've had many plants triple in size.

Im using a 250w hps and my plant is 7in away from bulb, i also have a tower fan blowing some air(warm air) right on the main cola.
