SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. and WHITINSVILLE, Mass. November 2, 2017 — John MacKay, Ph.D., has been named the Editor of Extraction Magazine, a new trade journal filling the information gap in the growing cannabis extraction industry. This new magazine is specific to the cannabis industry, and the process and methods of extraction. It focuses on crucial issues and key trends that most influence extractors and extraction equipment manufacturers. The publication is bi-monthly, with the first issue launching February/March 2018.

"I am excited to have this unique opportunity to accelerate the practical knowledge of all forms of extraction. Extraction Magazine experts will write about extraction efficacy, effectiveness and economics, as well as safety. The goal is to merge information that non-scientific and traditionally trained people can use the same day they read it," MacKay stated.
There will be carefully explored in-depth articles with original reportage from scientific experts, innovative entrepreneurs and information mavericks across all key cannabis extraction methods and sectors. Published bi-monthly, Extraction Magazine is written for and by industry professionals, who construct a direct gateway of valuable information for this highly-specialized market sector.

MacKay has served as Scientific Editor of Terpenes and Testing Magazine, the sister publication to this exciting new trade journal (Publisher MACE Media). As more and more states make Cannabis products legal, unique growth in the industry has evolved. Due to increasing changes in legalizing Cannabis across the nation, the extraction segment has been growing exponentially.

Due to the mechanics of the process, extraction professionals do not always have the time to search for information they need. Extraction Magazine is stepping in to provide a valuable resource with its practical and multi-sourced "how-to" articles. The magazine also includes contributions from key experts across this niche market, offering specialized knowledge and other valuable content that can be immediately implemented in a practical fashion.

MacKay, earned his B.A. in chemistry at St. Lawrence University. He went on to earn his Ph.D. at the University of Vermont, where he focused on inorganic chemistry as well as on the synthesis of cancer-fighting compounds. MacKay taught at Davidson College, Lyndon State College, and University of Vermont. After retiring from Waters Corporation, he became CEO and founder of Synergistic Technologies Associates, which specializes in developing botanical extraction and testing efficiency within the Cannabis industry.
