Dr Trevor's Dark Angel, Vanessa & Siobhan, 1/20/20

Today, I watered and fed the girls. Just under a gallon of plain water, followed by a half gallon of water, mixed with 3 tsp Big Bloom and 2 tsp of Tiger Bloom. Trimmed away the lower, hidden leaves.

Turns out that Vanessa was the one with the calcium deficiency, though Siobhan is beginning to show the spots on a few leaves. Waiting for the Cal-Mag to arrive.

I wonder, now, whether my tent (2' x 2' x 4') will be big enough for both plants. I decided to grow two at the same time because my first plant, Lupe, didn't grow that big. It wasn't until I got things started, second time around, that Lupe was small due to all my mistakes.

When I first built my tent. It was 32” wide 2’ front to back and 4’ tall.

I quickly ran out of room. I was able to rig my light up better to raise it higher and I got through my first grow. I then re built it to be 5’ tall and was almost perfect. Still wanted more room so I re built it again being 6’ 2” tall. What I’m trying to get at, is a 4’ tent is is doable but pushing the limits to how big you can grow your plants. Remember that some plants can and will double if not triple in size once finished stretching into flower. Super cropping might be your friend.

I remember in my 4 foot tent. I tied all my highest branches down with string to limit my height. I was panicking but it ended up working out. One of those plants actually got me one of the titles under my name.

Looking at my photos now, I remember. I had to modify my tent to be 5’ tall before the end of flower. Oops my bad!

I cut out holes in the bottom of my tent for the pots to sit in and give me more height.
here’s a photo of what I did. I had crappy material and had no problem cutting the tent material. Yours might be a bit better material!

The tent I have now is 16cf. The next size up is 3' x 3' x 6' (54 cf). This should be more than enough.

Due to the size of my flat, I cannot go bigger than this. Just as well, I don't see myself growing more than two plants at a time... for now. :)

(the isolation is killing me...)

Gave each plant a half gallon of pure water, followed by a half gallon of water with 3tb of Big Bloom and 2 teaspoons of Grow Big and 2 ts of Tiger Bloom. A 1/4 ts of Cal Max Xtra was added.

I checked the pH on the nutrient solution. It was about 5.2. I added 'General Hydroponics pH UP' to bring the pH up to 7.2. I'm now thinking I should've raised the pH at a more gradual rate than this. We'll see what happens.

I ordered a larger grow tent. The girls are practically fighting over their 24 x 24 x 48 space. The new one is 48 x 24 x 60. Depending on how things are, I may grow three plants at a time.

The attached photos are of Siobhan and Vanessa. The close up fan leaf is supposedly a calcium and/or magnesium deficiency. We'll see what happens with the Cal Max Xtra..

The new tent is up and Vanessa and Siobhan are in it. They appreciate the extra room...

Today, I flushed the girls using two teaspoons of Sledgehammer in a gallon of water, followed by nine gallons of tap water. I placed the tap water in cooking pots, last night, and added a pinch of potassium metabisulphite in them. The potmeta helps to break up the chlorides.

After the flush, I fed the girls 3 tsp of Big Bloom, 2 tsp of Grow Big and 2 tsp of Tiger Bloom. I also gave Vanessa a 1/4 tsp of Cal Max Xtra; I forgot to add it to Siobhan's nutes. I noticed that the mag deficiency hasn't worsened in either plant. Vanessa is beginning to bloom. I've adjusted the light so the girls will get 12 hours of veg and bloom a day.

I also forgot to adjust the pH of the nutes. I'm beating myself over the head on this one.

I trained both plants. Please let me know if you think I clipped too much from them. Later on today, or tomorrow, I hope to tie the stalks down to continue the training.

As you can see in one pic, I'm keeping some unused soil in the tent. Will the light hurt the plastic bags at all? Dry it out and make it brittle? Anything?

It happens. One time won’t have long term effects. To be honest, I never PH my water, but I would never tell that in terms of telling another person to not do it.

Do you mean you lollipoped them? Looks like you did.

I have no idea if the light affects the bag or not! Sorry man!

Today, I fed the girls 3 tsp of Big Bloom, and 2 tsp of Tiger Bloom, along with a quarter teaspoon of Cal Max Xtra. The signs of mag deficiency are much less visible in both plants.

Last week, I trimmed much of the leaves from both plants. Siobhan has started to flower. I was surprised to see that she grew back so many of the leaves I trimmed off last week. While Vanessa (the elder by a week) is a little taller, Siobhan is much much wider and fuller. Could this be because I tied her main cola down? I didn't do this with Vanessa as I felt the main stalk would snap.

I'm thinking of trimming Siobhan again, next week. Any thoughts?

Forgot to take pics this week...

That’s great to hear!

Yes sir, probably! :thumb:

It’s best to start them as young as you can to take advantage of the limber stems. I’ll show you a picture I got yesterday of a great example of the benefits of a topped plant, and a non-topped plant.

Today, I fed the girls 3 tsp of Big Bloom, and 2 tsp of Tiger Bloom, along with a quarter teaspoon of Cal Max Xtra. The signs of mag deficiency are much less visible in both plants. I forgot to include the Big Grow as I accidentally used last week's feeding schedule.

I trimmed a few of the leaves, just the ones that were casting shade on the lower colas.

I turned off the veg light. Now, the girls will get 12 hours of bloom light a day.

Photos: Vanessa is the two on the left. Siobhan is on the right.

Happy Easter! Or whatever holiday you're celebrating now.

I ordered five more Dark Angel seeds fromcropkingseeds.com. After I use these up, I'll consider switching up to something else.

I forgot to mention (damn you cut and paste) that I flushed both plants.

I used 1/2 teaspoon of sledge hammer in a gallon of water. I followed this up with nine gallons of tap water (and a little potmeta) to clean the soil out.

They really do help with the pain.

Another reason to grow more of it is to see my progress as a grower. By using the same strain, I can see how each plant differs. Using different strains couldn't tell me that as they differ.

Yep definitely... I know by the time I was getting close to running out of DA I was looking forward to smoking something else. I get tired of smoking the same thing after a while... don’t get me wrong, I love the smoke and high, but it’s nice to switch things up once in a while
