Droopy rooted clones - need help w/pics

Day 3 of these clones under a 250w CMH. They were very healthy and perky when I picked them up - had very good roots. Now they just keep getting droopier.

The clones are in rockwool, I then transplanted them to mini hempy cups. I am using a bit of Dynamite for nutes. Also gave them superthrive, h2o2, silica, and hygrozyme. Water is phd to 6.0.

I've watered once a day, should I be watering more often?

Any ideas? Will they be ok once the roots hit the res?

How far should my 250 CMH be away? It is currently about 18"

They may still be in shock from the transplant. Not to experienced but I would lay off on the water for a bit.

they look overwatered to me leave them without water for 5 days and they should perk up....never water every day...hope this helps....weedtastic

Hi Weedtastic,

I am running all perlite hempy buckets for this grow. I was under the impression that you need to water at least once per day (if not more) in all perlite hempys until the roots hit the res since that will be there only source of food? I feel if I let them go w/o water for 5 days at this stage they will just die off. I don't have tons of experience so this is merely speculation.

I appreciate your response and would love to hear what you think if you are familiar with this style of growing.

I water my babies every other day.. sometimes only 3 times a week, and other times twice in one day. Get to know your plants.. make a journal.. by now you should know watering everyday is a bad idea at this stage considering how the plants are responding to your feedings.

Are you running full perlite hempies?

I just got my plants on sunday so how would I know by now (first grow)? I'm still figuring things out.

In all perlite there is nothing to hold the moisture like vermiculite so you have to approach it differently.

There are so many other variables that narrowing it down to the watering cycle is very difficult. I have been relying on the veterans advice-people that know perlite hempies- and that advice is MORE watering.

I apologize if I seem agitated here, but your post came across very abrasive.

Good luck with your grow, I hope you get those mites under control.

You do seem agitated take a:blunt: am sure your plants will be find.... and yes my baby is doing good.. no more spider mites... just separated her from the rest of the garden, and she's doing good on her own.

hi mate sorry i was not aware you where in all perlite....im not experienced at all with your grow method so please ignore my last post.....as you have stated your new to growing my advice is do a soil grow or 2 once you have mastered this type of growing move on to a more specialist type of growing.......i dont intend to cause offence in your grow method and think its a great way to go.......just a lot more complicated for a new grower thats all...hope this helps

No worries man, I appreciate you input. Thanks for taking the time to respond back. :Rasta:

Those pics don't show an under watered plant, I would say over watered. you said the clones were in rockwool, if its just a plug no problem, but if its in say a 3" block that would hold water for days.

Thanks for the response SoCal,

Well those pictures were from about a week ago..since then I have developed a pretty bad mag deficiency. I have been watering with cal/mag for a couple days now, trying to nurse them back to health.

The rockwool cubes appear to be 2x2? Majority of the roots had already grown through the rockwool. I am fairly convinced at this point I am underwatering. I am in 100% perlite, and my RH is around 20-30% with tons of air circulation.

The clones were already fairly large when I got them and they needed nutes and cal/mag right away. This being my first grow I have already learned a lot and would change quite a few things if I were to go back. Live and learn!

Battling deficiencies, high heat and low humidity. Fun times!

Yea, you'll be fine! Its all about us learning what our girls need and makes them happy. Catching deficiencies and such is 1/2 learned and 1/2 talent. :yummy:

Just an update for anyone who may look to this thread in the future..

The girls were underwatered, as hypothesized. They also needed a grow supplement to aid the Dynamite for the first couple weeks. I used FF Grow Big. Cal/mag is needed right away for all perlite/hempy/trfs IMO.

Make sure you are watering a couple times a day right over the roots until they hit the res. Mini hempy cups are the way to go, I would say veg for a week or 2 then transplant to your larger container. The one who stayed in the mini hempy a couple weeks looks significantly greener and healthier. You will need to water the roots again a couple times a day till roots hit the res again.

Don't be afraid to overwater your hempy's, especially in the beginning stages. Soil growers will steer you away from this and say you are overwatering but they are not familiar with what the plants need in hempys.

Hope this helps someone in the future, if not it's a good thing for me to look back on for future grows.
