Dwarf Low Flyer: First Grow Journal

Day 14 + 5

Wondering if someone can chime in on this. My older plant is showing some deformation. I have attached a picture and you can clearly see a mutation on its second node leaf. What could be causing this? It took well to the feeding yesterday and seems healthy overall.

Looking pretty healthy my friend I wouldn’t worry about it too much. If there is one thing I would suggest that I have learned from a lot of great ppl in this community is to try and make the plant Roots work For The water rather than being saturated by watering from the outer rim of the pot. Never around the stem. Help in preventing stunted and slow growth . Nothing personal just what’s been passed down to myself. Happy growing my friend. Great to see the progress. Cheers!

Hello, new grower here also, I have some low flyer seeds from cks also, not in soil yet but I’m interested in this grow. I’m currently doing my first grow also with a few other seeds
Good luck, I’ll be following :passitleft:
Welcome Stu. You will learn a lot from this community. Start a grow journal and I can’t wait to follow. A lot of great ppl Here willing to help every step of the way. Happy Growing! Cheers!

Day 15

- My older plant appears to be doing well. The leaves on my first two nodes have reached the outer most part of my watering line. I generally assume the root system is as wide and twice as deep as the plant itself. Today I went ahead an adjusted the lights down from 36” to 26”. Although this is conducive for this plant I will monitor for signs of stress on my younger seedlings. I plan to keep this height constant now until signs of flower. Seeing as this is my first grow with these UFO cob LED I am not sure what to expect but know my highest PAR output is at 18”.

Day 6

- My two seedlings are growing at consistent rates and both have good stem mass and leaf development. I actually feel like these two may exceed my mature plant once they really take off. I will be adding another 1-2” of coco coir mix with worm castings as a top dress to help support the stretch on all my plants. The medium so far has settled 2-3” after drying out and pulled away from the edges of the pots. Good for nice air-ey soil but could cause undue stress if it ever got moved and decided to break apart.

I have also noticed a slight aroma coming from the mature plant. It is delicious and can not wait for the final product. Although I will have to spring for a carbon filter in a few weeks to keep things under control.

My question is do you think a 4” carbon filter and fan could generate enough negative pressure for my growing space? Tent dimensions are 36” wide x 20” deep x 63” tall.

Absolutely. I’ve got the 4” Carbon filter and it’s been amazing. Not the quietest but works for the smell 100% in my room. (4X4X6H) clean air is good air, Happy Growing

Day 16

Plant growth continues. Smell is becoming more aromatic by the day. Plant appears to be healthy. Still has leaves twisting and has had some droop come mornings. I have been monitoring it closely and it would appear there is no stress. You can tell from the picture it won’t need another watering for a few days

Day 7

Yay! Both seedlings are starting to come along well. They are a bit more leggy from having my lights adjusted differently but overall I feel they display good genetics. Soil is drying out fast so I presume they will require some aqua in the next few days. All in all loving the progress and watching these seeds grow.

Looking great!

Day 17 + Day 8

Everything is growing like a weed. Ordered my air filter today and should expect that next week. Looking forward to how this effects the air flow in my grow space. Will certainly help manage the developing aroma. Such a nice skunk to it already!

Day 18

So yesterday morning I had my furnace blow. It did not impact the grow to much but had the temperature drop 5 degrees colder during the night then normal. I don’t see any stress relate issues today but will continue to monitor the plant. Everything else is going good and the plant has just passed its 4th node. I am not going to top this grow only LST.

Day 9

My seedlings are growing very well. In the next few days I will be watering them with my base nute solution. This includes bioroot and calmag. I watered my more mature plant with 2 litres on day 13 and it had no signs of nutrient burn. Will continue to monitor the progress and keep everyone updated. Pictures are day by day and I have included today without my grow lights on.

Day 19
I have already seen some good growth after my first attempt at lst. The plant is starting to grow its bud stems larger ( is this the right term? ). I noticed a big increase in the rate at which water left my soil these past few days and will give her the first dose of biothrive with calmag, bioroot, and diamond black with tomorrow’s water. I have kept the dosing at the minimum recommended on the bottles.

Day 12

My two seedling are coming up strong. Yesterday I included the first water with bioroot and calmag. Each plant took 1 litre. No signs of nutrient burn!

Those buds are starting to look frosty! Following closely my friend keep up the good work! You have a good journal and I will be interested to see how our grows compare given our grow conditions.
Thanks , yeah I’m looking forward to the comparison for shits and giggles. Frosty and tasty looking, super excited!!!! Cheers.

Day 20

Gave my plant its first real dose of nutes. Fed 2.5ml biothrive, bioroot, diamond black, calmag in 2litres of water. Very small amount of runoff. Ph going in - 6.0
Ph of runoff - 6.6
I felt the biothrive may have been unnecessary this feed. If nute burn is a result then I will adjust my feeding schedule for my other two plants. Bud stems continue to grow a my lst seems to be very effective!

Day 13

Seedlings are developing well. Both are exceeding my first plant in growth but I have noticed one of my younger plants have the same genes as my older one. Both have the same genetic leaf deformation in its second node leaf. So far this has been a enjoyable and easy grow.

Day 21

Three weeks old today and the pre flower nodes are starting to grow. My lst is looking very effective and my center growth also shows signs of pre flower. Starting to see some white hairs emerge. My water yesterday with my light nute mix has shown no signs of nutrient burn. Exciting stuff!

Day 14

My two younger plants are starting to really open up. Growth has continued to progress and tomorrow I will give it a plain water. It took me awhile but think I have a good watering volume down for these plants in the 5 gallon containers.

Today I received my carbon filter and fan. I got that all set up and running to see how it effected my grow. I was able to achieve negative pressure on the lowest setting with one of my lower vents open. All in all a good sign but i don’t feel I will need to utilize the filter just yet. I mostly want to control the odour as it progresses heavily into flower. It did drop my tent down about 10 degrees which I will have to compensate for. What do you all think so far? Shall I make any adjustments? 494D668A-A025-46C0-9A59-D8698CCDFBD3.jpeg165EFBE6-0697-4F4C-A0CF-EC3BAB1DAE9B.jpeg1BD5F92A-A486-4D5E-9C3C-91FD01DC245F.jpeg

Great job, plants looking great. Nice hanging job! Looks good my friend! Cheers

Day 22

Still no nute burn on this plant. Leaves are a nice deep green and new growth appears to be just as healthy. Pre flower stems continue to gain size. I adjusted my LST to a much better set up. I now have the new growth growing horizontally in hopes the other nodes will grow even with the main. Light is penetrating much of the base and overall my plant appears healthier. I also adjusted the tent lights. My 6400k 18w LED is adjusted at 18” and I moved my two UFO cob led down too 20”. All of my plants are now praying up towards the light. I can start to see little white pistols emerging! 8ACBCDC7-239D-4324-9A7A-EC3A291B0757.jpeg1320AD05-24BA-4B15-9EC7-C0B191BB291D.jpeg

Day 15
My two younger plants got 1 litre of water each today. I have noticed better growth using less water at this stage so the whole pot doesn’t stay saturated for long. As the plants mature and start sucking it dry I will increase the frequency and volume. This week these seedlings will also get the first dose of nitrogen and humic acids. I have really been conservative with my feeding schedule as I know my soil has a very fertile base. At this point each plant is recieving 1 nutrient feeding a week which I have designed a template to track. These dwarfs hitting pre flower by 21 days has me thinking I will switch from biothrive too biomarine. This will help keep nitrogen lower as I increase potassium and phosphorus. 21E67F93-3650-4EE3-91FB-FAEAECF1B6B0.jpegB20C1FCD-F2B3-4C8E-A402-55CF0D515EC4.jpeg
