When making hash, oil or butter, which is better to use? Mids or loud? I've heard some people just sum it up with, "you use crap, you get crap." But I've also heard people say loud is wasted on edibles because its quality is better appreciated through smoking. They also say that mids will get you just as high because it more potent. Does anyone know if either claims are true? And which do you prefer?

Sorry. In the South, mids means low grade weed. It sells cheaper than standard good weed because it gets you less high. Loud is what we use to call good weed.
all personal preference I would say. I have made oil with high grade bud and it turns out great. I have never really used "great" bud for edibles though, usually just trimmings, and I get pretty high from it. Cant hurt to try both if you have the bud to do it. If you would rather smoke it though, I would never say no...
