Emmie's Advanced Female Seeds: Knockout Journal, 2016

This grow is dedicated to the contests here at 420magazine and also to OlderGrower, who gave me part of his recent prize of a $50 gift certificate for Gorilla Seeds. Gorilla then blew me away and said that I could have my choice of ANY 10 SEEDS, no matter the price! 3 of the seeds I chose were some of the most expensive out there, at $20 a seed. Thank you Oldergrower, and also Gorilla Seed Company... this would not have been possible without you.

Two Knockout seeds were started in 2oz starter solo cups in miracle grow organic soil. They were planted 1/2" down, pointy end up, and watered. They have joined the other 4 participants in the next garden, now sitting in my window.

Described by Advanced Seeds:
Also known simply as K.O., Knockout by Advanced Female Seeds is a true heavyweight that hits like a sledgehammer. Considered by even the most tolerant to be the Skunk of the century, this bad-ass bean is dedicated to The Gorilla's cannabis kings - it's definitely not for the uninitiated!

  • 100% Feminized Seeds
  • Unrelenting Power
  • 6 to 9 Week Finishes
  • Staggering Yields

:thanks:

Go Emmie! Go Emmie! :slide: I got a WIPEOUT from Heavyweight comin. I wonder if they are related?? :lot-o-toke:
check your lineage and let me know!

Pretty awesome! Gorilla company, way to go - can't wait to see how this turns out.
They were awesome... That $50 gift certificate turned into this, along with free stealth shipping and the 10 seeds, as well as the free seeds that would have been earned if I had ordered the seeds!!!! All totalled, I got more than 5x the value of the prize! It just doesn't get better than this... support our sponsors my friends, they really do try hard to get your business.

Awesome way to give back to the community. Let's see those babies become budporn super stars. Knock these knockouts, out of the park. I'll be eagerly watching the process from seed to smoke, good luck on this one emilya!

KiG :green_heart:cheers
right back at ya! :circle-of-love:

... and from that moment on, it got worse.

My apologies to Gorilla Seeds for the absolutely horrible treatment I have given to these prize KO seeds. I made a classic newbie mistake of putting them in too hot of soil to start in, and bad things have resulted. Then, a bit of bad luck added to the mix, and I have almost failed at this... but not quite... one girl still survives and looks like she is going to make it.

When I realized I had just burned up one of these plants, I planted another one, in some starter soil, in one of my not so cute anymore 2 oz solo mini cups. As luck would have it, although this should have worked, the seed must have reversed in the hole and she came up root first. By the time I realized what I was looking at, dug her out and replanted head side up, I think it was too late. She does not appear to be responding to the emergency operation. Two out of 3 of my fancy $20 seeds, ruined. I am sick about this.

Anyway, here are the pictures... sad as they are. Thankfully, it looks like my 16 day old seedling is going to survive this abuse... turns out she was a strong seed with good genetics after all, and survived even me.

Lastly, to get to the bottom of this and figure out once and for all if it is the small cup or the soil that is the problem, I am testing the theory out on some cheaper seeds. The ones in the circle are in starter soil, the ones outside were started almost 2 weeks ago in the hot organic soil. As you can see, one sprouted... I am sure the remaining seeds ignited underground. The ones in the circle were planted 3 days ago. I expect to see every one of them pop up in the next couple of days.

Another hard lesson learned in the grow room. I hope you are having a bit better go of it and with less stress.

Sorry to hear of the unfortunate demise of the hot soil babies Emmi.. Rootin for your success with the others! :cheer: :high-five:. I utilize a tried and true, "relatively aggressive" germing technique.. 24-36 hours in water bath (however long it takes to get the seed to open and expose the tappy) then 24 hours in wet paper towel ( clear lid chinese take out container) as soon as I have a 1/2 inch tappy its straight in soil. I pop a 1/2 in deep hole in and only drop the bean in just below its helmet. Mist a decent amount. Usually within a day it had pushed above the dirt line. ( I prefer not to let my lil beaners have to push thru a bunch of soil) Not payin for no chiropractors here! :) As soon as they start pushin up I gently press around their necks to avoid air penetration to the tappy. I keep lightly spritzing just the helmet to get it to pop open, after i see enough wiggle room i put a finger behind it and with some tweezers help it shed its head gear. im by no means telling you how to do anything a certain way Emmi, just wanna see ya succeed. :) Happy Sunday my friend!

That's a real bummer! I had one of my new girls do the exact same thing and send her root up first. Luckily I caught it quick and flipped her around. Now she is on the right track.

I have some soil cooking for when I transplant them, but have some tame stuff just to get them started. Trying this to not test my luck with hot ffof soil starting out like last time.

If people didn't mess up, then it wouldn't help as many newbies like myself.

Hope for better luck on the next ones!

There you are. Have you any idea how I can find growchick? I must have unsubbed one late night falling asleep at the iPad, and I'm suddenly missing her something fierce Emmie. I was searching grow journals when I stumbled upon this. You'd think after all this time I'd learn to look at people's signatures, but you'd be wrong. :laughtwo:

Going back to my search now. I'll catch up later. That was really sweet of Gorilla Seeds. They were especially generous with me as well. Nice guys.

I know. :( SweetSue's not happy with that aspect of the virtual world.

Finally I have some good news to report... our original Knockout lives! I have taken her out of ICU and put her under full lights... she is going to take off now!

Since this is the lone survivor of the 3, plans are to take a couple of clones early on, and work with them to be able to raise up a bit of this reportedly very good smoke.

At 22 days in, I give you a very resilient KO:
