Can I cut off fan leaves around buds when close to harvest and I'm not talking about sugar Leafs just the big fan leaves

Sure, i've done that plenty of times to let light get through below. As long as you have plenty of other fan leaves you're ok.

I have read in the cultivator coco thread to pull all fan leaves off the last week. Increased air flow = less chance of mold
Unless you have over fertilized the fan leaves really should be eaten back up and dropped by harvest. Very few should be around near the end. I mean you can grow lots of ways but most times you grow bud not leaves.
(The top ones are 1 week clones that's why they are so small..flowered 1 week from going into soil)
