PHOENIX - The final draft of the rules governing the state's medical marijuana program has been released by the Arizona Department of Health Services, and will take effect in about two weeks.

Qualifying patients can apply for a medical marijuana card beginning on April 14, on the ADHS website. Applications for medical marijuana dispensaries will begin on June 1. The final rules draft includes many new rules regarding the registration and operation of a medical marijuana dispensary.

"It has been our mission since the initiative passed to make this the best medical marijuana program in the country," said Will Humble, ADHS Director. "Our goal from the outset was to set the stage for a medical marijuana program, as opposed to a recreational one."
