First Grow - Closet Tent - Mars LED - DWC - Fast & Vast Auto

Day 26. Huge smell out of nowhere as soon as I opened the tent. Skunkiest smell I've ever smelled. Didn't notice it yesterday and wasn't expecting it. Sniffed all plants (ya know, for science), coming from the big 3 branch one in the middle. Smells great, I'm excited.

Reservoir change. 6 gallons of water, 40ml of "A", 15ml of "B" which is slightly above 1/2 strength. 3ml of 29% H2O2, 9ml of cal mag added.

One small problem. Roots are tangling. Gonna need to space the plants between the 2 containers soon, ok to gently seperate roots or am I better off leaving them and lsting them apart?

Subbed. fast n vast will be my next grow . Nice setup im looking into buying a growroom not sure if should go led or mh/hps anyone with advice check out my journal cheers:)

I originally planned for a 400w mh/hps. Biggest issue was temps. With summer here it's hard to keep the house below 75℉. During test run the room got upwards of 85℉, I probably would've needed a bigger fan. But my ballast fried within a week of running it, and rather than replacing it I went with leds.

I'm very satisfied with the performance of these old style Mars Hydro leds. For the price I think it's impossible to beat.(less than $70 each) I'm thinking about adding another.

:thumb: looking good. I would worry about the roots. I just started with my LED 300w Mars, so far so good.

I'll probably get in there tomorrow and try to spread the roots out. Don't want to set up the second Dwc yet, mostly out of laziness, but I should probably be getting them spaced out better.

I've got a larger tent for future grows. Once funds are available to supply it. It's 3'x5' and I'd like to put a mars 2 700 or 900 in it.

Are they still selling those? I didn't see any on the site, I had to actually BID on eBay because I didn't see any place to buy the 300 watt either, I noticed the site is higher than eBay and Amazon.

Yeah they have them for sale as buy it now on eBay from marshydro seller. Not sure about Amazon. The old style leds are not listed on their normal site. And I believe the only difference in buying from them on eBay is a 1 year warranty instead of 2 or something.

Ok so I checked on them a few hours later and it was bad. They were all really droopy and looked dead. I immediately swapped them back to the old reservoir. The only difference would be the addition of cal mag, so I'm not sure why they freaked. Maybe the h202, as I normally just put a few drops per gallon. PH was exactly 5.7 in New and old reservoir.

They've perked back up but there's some yellow spots now. Hopefully I didn't stunt them too much.

So I'm still trying to kill my plants apparently. I changed the reservoir on the 21st, half nutes, zero cal mag and 2ml H2o2. They seemed fine. Yesterday I pulled the roots apart and split the bigger plants apart. Today, one of them was completely wilted over. opened up the container and the main root stem was broken off.

I'm hoping it was just due to rough handling but I added 3ml h2o2 today incase of root rot. The reservoir hasn't gone above 70℉, and I've been adding h2o2 with every watering/res change. If I kill anymore I'm starting seeds in a water only soil mix I have.

Oh he ded.

Wow looks like hydro might be the way to go with Fast and Vast. You're getting the best results Ive seen with this strain. Most I've seen have been very small, yours are living up to the name. Hope you get the issues figured out, the world needs a successful Fast and Vast journal.

Mines not too successful so far. 2/6 dead, 2/6 stunted and barely 2 inches tall at almost 30 days lol. The one seemed to take well to topping though. Picked up growth on the 3 tops pretty quick.

They seem to be actively drinking still, about a gallon down in a few days, and I'm keeping close eye on the roots, no bad smell, no slime, slight brown tint but I'm 90% sure that's staining from the cal mag because that's when it appeared. And a small amount of cal mag turned the reservoir brown.

Maybe a little too ambitious with hydro on my first grow. Turning out to be a lot more work and maintenence. I'll just be happy if they survive and yield me an oz total. But from what I've seen from this strain, it seems like a hype sell. Maybe it does better outdoor. 60 days isn't happening, and the only harvests I've seen were 80+.

30 days from seed. Not dead yet. Roots still look/smell/feel fine, so I'm calling the dead one a result of poor handling, not root rot. Added 1 gallon water at full strength, which should bump the reservoir up to about 2/3 strength. Also changed the ratio from 2:1 A:B to 1:1 A:B, since flowering is starting.

Ordered a few more soil ammendments for my organic water only mix. I think I'll start one of the NLxBB freebies in a couple weeks and keep these in one container since I stunted them to like 6inches tall lol.

32 days from seed. Another gallon down. Nutes added at full strength. I didn't have a greenscreen so... blue x added. Attempting to spread out the tops a bit.

And the last guy. I might get a whole gram here. XD

34 days from seed. Another gallon added at full strength. Probably will swap to a 1:2 ratio for flowering soon, whenever they stop stretching.

Topping is definitely the way to go.

I couldn't find my tape measure and I wanted to measure them. Luckily I had a 1 sq foot tile.

36 days from seed. Gallon added with nutes. Removed wire in favor of starting another seed.

Seed is northern lights x big bud. Soil is the clackamascoots recipe from build a soil. Watering method will be the Swick method. Very excited to try this.

38 days from seed. 1 gallon added on 8-2, another gallon added today. No sprout in the soil yet. Looks like they untrained one is growing an inch a day. The topped one is about the same height. Roots grew more.

40 days. Verticle growth seems to have stopped. Added 1 gallon ph'd water on 8-4, added 1 gallon with nutes today. Added at a 1:2 ratio for flowering. Plan for a few more days of this then a res change.

Seedling sprouting in the soil setup.

looking good man; nice job! you sure this is your 1st grow!! ;)

there's no way my plants are going to be that big (and alive) at 40 days!

My first time growing anything. Lol. Spent countless hours reading everything I can for a few months now. I still managed to kill 1 seedling, broke the roots on one of the plants, stunted one to like 6 inches. And stunted the other to like 1&1/2 inches lol.

So I started with 6, and I have 2 healthy plants. :D
