Thought flushing would make it taste better and smell better...really don’t care bout yields I just want the best smoking bud possible u dig me

Flushing, as in flushing with plain water for like 1-2 weeks to starve the plant in hopes it somehow depletes non mobile nutrients in the bud, does nothing but lower your yield.
That is an old growers tale.

Flushing, as in flushing the soil with 3x the amount of water to soil.
So 5 gal pot, flush with 15 gallons of water with some yucca extract in it to reset the soil, flush salt and get it back in balance. That is useful.

So when do I perform that

Beautiful! Flush isn’t necessary but I don’t need to debate the matter again.

Just have to say U should be proud of that lady for a first grow, it is superb to me.... I also read that "flushing" was very needed to clean out the old nutes for a better mellow and tasting smoke, I just did my last harvest and feel great about it. At that point what do u have to loose, the buds are mature and ready anyway? I would just do it!

I like your post buddy but I can’t agree with you on the flushing. I work in agriculture and no other crop sector does this. Yeah, they may lay off nutrients just as the crop is ripening to avoid waste, but there is no way regular farmers starve their plants right before harvest for “quality.” It makes no sense. The idea that chemical nutrients build up in the flower and need flushing to prevent off-flavor has no basis in reality. The plant converts all nutrients into forms it can use, it doesn’t just keep reservoirs of chemicals inside.

In case that wasn’t coherent, I mean that loading up on nutrients up until the moment of harvest probably won’t help much, but starving a plant during the final flowering period can only hurt. You draw the line at a certain point, but intentional starvation has no basis in science.
